Best place to buy a pram.

Hiya
My daughter is having my first grandchild and i have offered to buy the pram. She wants a complete travel system and i 've found loads of nice ones for a great price on a site called Kiddicare. Before i get the bank card out is there anywhere else that's reputable with good funky looking prams? or can anyone recommend me a travel system that they are using. Thanks in advance.

this site has it in black or lime. I cannot recommend enoughthe petite star zia pushchair. Its one of the most lightweight easy to use on the market. When they say 1-handed fold action it is , i only wish i knew it came as a travel sytem and had saved myself £500 3 years ago.

I bought the quinny travel system, paid small fortune. By time my LO was over a a year id had enuff the quinny os heavy and bulky some days i wouldnt go out the thought of getting it all set up outside ( i had nowhere indoors to leave it up). I went and bought the zia in a lush blue last year best thing i eve did.

It comes in brigth blue and pink too and sometimes ive seen it in like zebra and dalmation prints. Ive just linked to first package i found

If you have a Mothercare near you ,pop in there as they have a lot out on display and you can get a proper look at the prams and push them around and also see how they fold down etc and it gives you more of an idea, then you can look online for anything youve seen thats similar or cheaper elsewhere, thats what we done

Ps congrats on you becoming a grandparent:-D

I did, i'm going to send my daughter the link. She liked one very similar that had the lime green trim. Nice site so thanks again. I think i've become an obsessive nanna lol I've spent nearly £400 on him so far and he isn't due till October.

we met over the CB radio(for those under 40 it was like an internet chatroom back in the 80's) and i only agreed to meet him because he said he was a body builder. I didn't know that was the job title for people that made vans.

Kiddicare is a good company - bought from them loads of times. Go round shops like John Lewis, Mothercare etc to see what type of pram and try them out pushing about etc. Then go online to compare prices. I remember my first pram - got the whole 4 in 1 travel system which turned out to be a waste because we only used the carry cot about half dozen times and it was too heavy for lifting in and out the boot of the car. But it was our first so we had no idea and just wanted everything we saw! Ended up getting a lighter 2 in 1 pramette from Mamas & Papas 3rd time around which was a brilliant as it was a pram for newborn and turned around into the pushchair when 3 months old. Just ask around mums you know about what was their best and worst buys = may save you some money! Good luck and congratulions :)

Thanks. She has been to look at a few in M/care etc. She has a car but rarely uses it as she is a bit of a keep fit addict and plans on walking everywhere. I just remember my prams for my kids and practical is better than stylish. Something easy to fold down and lightweight, easy to wheel around shops and easy to clean.

I know your an experienced intelligent lady so i hope i dont insult you...

also get the caseat tried in her car? and yous to be sure it fits? maxi cosi one my daughter go didnt fit securely in my car...and a britax i got for my son the seatbelt didnt fit round it!
consider also that spending a long time in the carseat isnt good for baby as it has been found that they can struggle to breath if their heads lol forwards if the seat is too upright
http://www.babycentre.co.uk/baby/buyingforbaby/carseats/newborn/

i had a Britax 1st class which meant moving baby to the pushchair if i went into shops but at least he was flat in his pushchair for the longer period of time..i then had a flat pushchair(carrycots imo are a waste of money unless you will use in the home too as a moses)

btw body-builder was funny! and i must be near your age as i recall cbs and eyeballing lol

Bought ours from a local pram shop - easier that way IMO, as if there are issues, it's far quicker to get it sorted.

Ours is a Mamas and Papas Pliko Combination travel system, was about £340 - bargain, no problems with it and a decent piece of kit.

Some of them are so overpriced, like those Jane ones, more of a fashion accessory than a pram.

Fortunately she isn't materialistic, (like momma) but i do want her to have a trendy looking pram that's practical too. I've looked at ones that you can customise the colours on, is it a Jelly pram? if it was me starting over i would prolly fall for the hype. I will go into Lesters which is our local (and probably the only one around for miles)pram shop. I love this site because you get real opinions.
