Best place to sell gold?

Heard nothing but awful reviews on the postal gold companies (recent bbc programme confirmed this) are places like cash converters just as bad? do proper jewellers all buy gold or is it only a certain amount? Want to hear from people who have sold gold/white gold places before and if they got the true worth of their items

i wonder if white gold is classed as the same as gold? i'd assume so lol
#3
Try local individual jewelers & shop around :)
#4
Might pop into the tesco nearish me and see what they say - if im not happy then i can just walk away rather than wait 3 months for my ring back lol
#5
Tesco's playing £10 a gram for 9ct gold is very reasonable considering the market value of gold after costs ect. and you will never get higher than this from any of the 'cash for gold' tv sites. Best best is to go to your local jewelers for a quote first.
#6
Also how much gold is actually in white gold? Although the jewelery may be valuable its all melted down into bullion anyway, so a low gold content wont give much of a return!
#7
can i go into any jewellers? and will some only give me a quote or do most buy aswell? want rid of the ring - present from an ex :/ lol not going to cry when its melted down but it does contain stones will that reduce value?
#8
Most jewelers buy it too. I'm sure they can remove the stones :)

well there are some "cash for gold" shops around where i live - but again probs just rip me off! do the "chain" jewellers such as ernest jones, fraser heart etc give quotes or am i better off going to a proper jewellers we have bavorics or something around here, and im sure they buy gold...ill give here and the bay a shot first - then risk the jewellers lol

White Gold is worth more than normal gold and when you do sell gold always check the price for buying gold so you can compare how much money the gold buyer is making from you, some are real cons beware dont be pressurised when you are there.

Honestly Tesco's have just launched their service and so this month they are buying it for the highest - compared to some of the chains. Independent jewellery's may also be able to offer competitive prices.

o wow really - didnt know that! my ring only weighs 2 grammes - so from tesco would get £20 which isn't awful, but it is when considering what the ring cost in the first place lol might have to try ebay etc first then i might end up getting more for it from there?
#14
When you sell gold to buyers you DO know they are buying the gold for the metal value, not for the jewellery value. So they have to pay to have it melted, and to make some profit themselves. Obviously you will get nowhere near what you paid for a ring. You might get more on Ebay if you sell it as a ring to someone looking for a ring... just depends if someone is looking for that.

how many ct is your gold?

erm im sure its 9ct - and like i said weighs 2 grammes. £20 from tesco or around that is quite a good offer compared to some ive seen whilst just browsing - i really don't care for this ring lol just want rid and to be able to buy myself a few nice little bits and bobs :)

My estimate for normal gold £22-24 is about right so £20 from Tesco not too bad, white gold would be about £30+ from a good reputable jeweller.
