I like Asics, they have a great reputation and made a massive difference to me and my OH.

I've never owned NB trainers so I can't compare.

Yep, just about everyone at the gym who turns the speed up beyond walking has them.

I have a pair of asics. you need to get your running gait checked and then they will find the right shoe for you as the sponge in them is harder on one side ect depending on how oyu run

This is true, though I never did it. You can go to one of those shops that have a treadmill to test you, or your gym can do it too.

Why did you remove the links?

Anyway, it depends on what your feet are like EG flat feet, high arch, normal.

It also depends if your suffer from pronation or supernation.

Use this site to get an idea of what type of running shoes you should be buying: http://www.brianmac.co.uk/shoes.htm

Is there a particular reason why you're deciding between the Asics and the NB trainers or do you just think they look the nicest?

If you're going to ignore my advice on how to pick a running shoe and simly choosing on style go for the Asics. NB trainers are a bit 1995 and not really very cool.

With running shoes you really have to try before you buy. See if there's any local sports shops that do gait tests and get some advice.

You need to go to a running shop and get on the treadmil so your running style can be assessed!

sorry, no i do really sincerley appreciate the advice. im not a big runner but i hope to build back up to a little bit of running and what not.just had a baby and got lots of weight to shift. developed diabetes in pregnancy and sadly its stuck around. so need to shift the weight. was going gym before i had baby (trying to shift weight from having baby number 2 then!!) anyways gonna go back to gym and need a good shoe.

i agree, going to the shops and getting advice is best way to do it. but seriously, with 3 kids its just very difficult! and as im not going to be running miles or whatever, i just need a good comfy shoe. so yes, going to get professional advice is best way, but HUKD comes a good second when it comes to matters of health and fittness!!! :p

I used to do a fair bit of running 15 years ago and compleated the Abingdon marathon (never again) and all the while I used New Balance, they were superb shoes.
