I want a new phone I tend to like Sony Ericsson, apart from the w995 what's the best Sony Ericsson phone thats out at the moment, i wanted the satio when it 1st came out last year but i dont know much about it and then the vivaz came out and i've read mixed reviews on it on phone websites, i initially wanted w995 but OH got that and its a really good phone, dunno whether to get that now or go for a newer better? model. Most of my friends have blackberries i dont get hype around those, are they better than Sony Ericsson?

I always text a lot i send over 50 texts a day so i need a phone thats good for texting, and i found sony ericsson phones good for texting, my last sony was k810i and i loved it but it dropped so many times cos im clumsy and it just gave up everntually
im not too fussed about camera cos i hardly use phone cameras and i have my own digicam

ahh then no, its like having a keyboard on your phone. Apart from texting blackberries are also good for emails.

Personally upgrade to a good phone , sell it and buy the w995.

nah i like to check my email on my computer call me old fashioned
i'm on o2 simplicity 12 month contract ends next month so just considering my options whether to get a new contract with the phone i want or just buy a phone and stick to simplicity, w995 has been out for ages so i just thought a better model of that would be out now, if it isnt im just gonna buy that or wait till OH upgrades in 6 months and get his no point wasting money but i really want a new phone

can only see the satio and vivaz on phone websites just wondering if there were any i was missing out

theres a mini x10? :? im confused
#9
x10 is in the xperia ranger though =]

if your after something similar to the w995 why not just go for that (the model is only about a year old? and its not much different from the c905 which was the flagship model the year before)

ive had the xperia x1 for the last 18 months and it really isn't a great phone. Only thing that has made it better is custom roms over at the good old xda developers.
Anyway, I would get the Xperia X10, it is in a completely different league to its predecessor and runs android and that timescape thing.
Also with the 1ghz snapdragon and 8 megapixel camera its quite good.

I'm texting alot faster now on my Desire than I did for years on Nokia, but then that might be because not a child and female.

Hi, couldn't help noticing this thread.... :)
I know what you mean about texting is a lot faster on a sony phone. I've got the and have never texted so fast (shame its dying)
I've been recommended the Sony Ericsson Elm, which you can get here on PAYG for £76.95 plus £10 top up (sorry its on the wrong network but i believe that e2save sell unlocked phones....not sure though :S) http://www.e2save.com/mobile-phone/payg/sony+ericsson/Sony-Ericsson-Elm-Silver.html?tariffcode=PPVODA

hope this helps :)

I had the c905 (great phone) and then got the Satio.
Great camera and videos, 12.1mp camera.
You can choose from "normal texting" or use a "mini" qwerty keyboard or make the keyboard the size of the whole screen.

I was thinkin of selling mine though as my m8's selling his iPhone.
Don't know what to do lol.
Only thing that puts me off iPhone is the camera.
Are they really THAT bad?

I've got the X10. Great phone. Texting takes a bit of getting used to tho as it has the qwerty keyboard but getting there now. The Vivaz also has the qwerty keyboard but found the buttons very small. Not sure the difference with the X10 mini, but would def recommend the X10.

texting on a touchscreen is something you get used to ^_^ most now have full onscreen qwerty keyboards which i find a lot faster

i initially wanted the c905 and then i heard it had lots of software problems and stuff and it put me off then i decided i liked the w995 and i still do but the satio model came out and i wanted that too, thats the model that was on my mind when i started my phone search then i saw the vivaz and it has HD lol its just so confusing i dont know what best one is now, last year i was very certain the w995 was the best sony ericsson phone out!

i dont know much about the iphone looks too fiddly and fussy and i've never been keen on owning an ipod someone got me one i hardly used it then it broke

at the moment i have an LG phone that has qwerty and touchscreen OH got it for me cos my SE broke down and i was using some cheap nokia i bought for £5 till i decided which phone wanted, i was fuming when he got it for me cos i hate touch screens generally and qwerty too, the qwerty took bit of getting used to but i prefer to use that for texting than the touch screen, im semi- comfortable with using touch screen and qwerty now but i'll rather just use a sony with 'normal' key pads

yea i'm liking the x10 at the moment i'll have to find out if the mini one is better than the original

thanks for all your help :)

yea i cant text as fast with touch screen i try sometimes cos i tend to multi task while texting and use just one hand for texting but its just so annoying so i eventually have to get the qwerty out and text with both hands to make it faster

i would get the Elm....but how long does it last? i know the battery life quoted...but how long does it actually last? (i'm a heavy texter lol)

also...correct me if i'm wrong...but isn't the SE X10 quite a big phone?

and the mini goes the other way and is very small?
