None of the public ones are particularly good.....always slow speeds. Private trackers are the way to go but all the best ones are closed membership now and i'm all invited out.

isohunt is alright

I use torrentleech but its private. But when i didn't have a private one i went on you torrent and would search all the pages easy if you look at the top right.

tpb by far

torrentz.com is an excellent search engine....searches different torrent sites, then you can choose where to leech from!
#7
demonoid.com

don't know if you need to have a ID for password. This was once public, I get speeds of up to 2mb/s so I'm not complaining.
#8
supertorrents.org

But as I've discovered this year, you can't really beat Usenet.

Yeh usenet is starting to slowly take over. Bittorrent is as popular as it was two/three years ago when suprnova.org was about.
#10
is usenet private like? whats the site?
#11
Do a search - there's a looooong thread about it. It helped me, certainly!

You'll probably end up paying for something along the way - software or access to a site - but you get good speeds, and you're not sharing/uploading so you (apparently) can't get 'done'.
#12
Usenet is good for me :) I downloaded just short of 11gb last night
#13
I use ares and find it fine for what i need. Not everything is there by any stretch, but always had what i want.

Thing that really annoys me about p2p is the juvenile way folks rename files. I've been trying to get shrek3 for a few weeks and i am sick of getting porno lol. Hmmm, what a paradoxical statement but you all know what i mean
#14
its usenet .... tpb/demonid .... isohunt .... etc etc

for me :)

I never understood it so stuck to BitTorrent. Plus I'm tight :)

:-D I paid about £25 for the software I use to download the files (I downloaded a couple of 'ooky copies but the registration codes they supplied always made it not work properly). I don't pay for server access though, I just the BT one that comes with my ISP (which, oddly, seems to have increased from constant speeds of 1.5MB to 1.9MB in the past week).

torrentreactor.com

piratebay.org good for the top 100 downloads
not so good for searching!!

I have an invite, but apparently the site is locked down, so can't help...

I use Isohunt & Azureus, then VLC to play the downloads :)
#21
I've used Azureus in the past with pirate bay and mininova

never tried private sites, as I've never been keen on given any financial information to that type of site, which ones are safe?

Usenet confuses me otherwise I'd use it! Even using the guide on here I got lost, lol

private is the way to go...
#24
SCT and Usenet
#25
I used to use torrentspy but there's been some well publicised problems as of late, so i've recently switched over to mininova, which is quite good. :)

I see no one mentioned the best music torrent site:

oink

Its very hard to become a member there
#29
Torrentleech is excellent, along with Torrent damage.

pavilion

Was just about to link this. :p

It's a listings blog for new releases and is linked to newtorrents.info.

I use mininova for everything I can't find on newtorrents or via IRC (need mIRC for IRC). I also use p2p listing site sharevirus as a reference for the size and name of files so I don't download fakes.
#31
UTorrent or Oink (but Oink is invite only)
#32
While we are on the subject then...I have searched high and low for the following 2 things and not been able to find them, can anyone help me out with:

Paradise Hotel - complete season
Grown Ups series 1 - From somewhere other than that private tracker one (thebox.bz), despite signing up and waiting out the delay period, I still can't get the darned thing moving :(
#33
I use http://www.torrent-damage.net and get blisterring speeds but it is a private site

Also http://www.mininova.org/ but some of the links are to private trackers but you may get lucky

The latter has links to grown ups on links to a private site

http://www.thebox.bz

Best of luck

BTW mininova is an excellent site for DS games if you have the R4 cartridge - the majority are on open trackers

Not familiar with the R4 you can pick it up from Amazon retailers for £20-£25
