Best UK theme park for kids!?

My eldest son will be 12 in June and we have promised to take him away for the weekend and wanted to squeeze in a trip to a theme park. We will also be taking his younger brother who is 6. I wanted to take them to Drayton Manor but i can never find any deals :(

I was thinking of Alton Towers/ Thorpe Park/ Chessington or Legoland. Any ideas on what would be best to please both of the boys? Not been to any theme-parks in the UK for a few years.

if he's tall enough to go on all the rides, then Alton Towers. unless its miles away.

There isn't much for the 6yr old at Alton Towers.

Flamingo Land is ideal , great selection of rides with a big zoo as well.

I would rate it better than Alton/Thorpe for the ages you are taking as there is a good mix of white knuckle and kids rides.

They have fantastic rides too http://www.ukrides.info/flamingoland.htm

Good video here showing rides

Yeah it was epic when the missile, rapids, log flume etc was there. Then they seemed to specifically set out to make it as **** as possible, before closing a few years back. Bad times.

Early 90s it was good.

Now for the serious: Theres a place near Melton Mobray.. twinlakes or summut? Thats meant to be good. Pleasure Island at Cleethorpes is closed now.

Yeah Twinlakes is really good but its mostly 10's and under i would say, there are no big rides but there is 2 huge inside play areas

Pleasure Island is back up and running but its nothing special a bit crap IMO

Alton Towers

I haven't been to any of these two in ages but would suggest legoland or chessington to be the ones to go for.

Drayton manor i thought was more for adults

Drayton Manor is a good bet, half of the park for under 8s and half for over 12s Id say! Tesco Clubcard deals are great! Look in there!
