They actually have their own USB stick for this but its a bit pricey: http://www.shopto.net/XBOX%20360/ACCESS%20%26%20HARDWAR/XB2AC21-Xbox%20360%2016Gb%20USB%20Flash%20Drive.html
I used my own external hard drive and worked fine if you have one of those.
I read this, might be why you cant use your USB stick
"Your USB flash drive or other USB storage device must meet the following minimum requirements:

* Windows FAT32 file system format (devices formatted for use with other file systems might not work)
* Minimum 1GB storage available"
-Source http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981974

Or you could try formatting your current USB to FAT file system:
Control Panel>> Administrative Tools >> Computer Management
On the left side click on "Disk Management", select your USB and right click, then choose format, select FAT, then do a full format.

M$ have been asked time and time again to tell us what the minimum requirement is for their usb test eg ..the read speed min* and the somewhat less important write speed min*.

They simply will not say and skirt around the issue like useless Mp's spouting drivel adn when further asked they jsut keep reapeting it liek the morons they are.

The Sandisk venture just goes to show how pathetic they are and I urge no one to buy one (This is the reason they don't want to tell you about min specs required to pass their test etc) Co's with that information you could easily get a usb that is better spec or on par spec with the sandisk (for a massive difference in price) (well I'm going to buy a sandisk one and test it's read and write speeds and put the info up on the web(someone surely has done this already though) so Will link that if I find it, then take back the pen for a refund)

It maybe that this info is out there provided by m$ but everytime I have looked it's a loop of 3 pages with the same info
