Best is very different from 'easiest to use'. Premiere Pro is very good, as is Avid (but that requires a very strong system, and is hard to learn). Theres also Sony Vegas and Final Cut (for OS X). The easiest two are probably iMovie and Windows Movie Maker, but iMovie is much better than Movie Maker (which is ****).

Yeah movie maker if you want it to crash and you lose everything.

Yeh, I wasn't recommending it. I was warning against it :P

does the SONY Vegas Pro software require a lot of space and a powerful computer to run it?

Apparently you need a quad core cpu for it to run completely smoothly. Mine is a bit jumpy because I only have duo core.

I think you need 2gb to run it as well

unfortunately my laptop is a couple of years old now, and whilst it is a dual core, there is no free space on it really so would have to remove a lot of stuff:x Think I'll have to wait until I can afford a new computer

Obviously the more powerful the system the better the software will run, but to be honest as an experiment I have run it on an old P4 @ 1.5Ghz with 1.5GB ram and only a 32mb gfx card. Although it is usable and stable it is very slow when editing etc.

The main reason I like using it is because it is rock solid stable, oh and runs well on my i7 system.

A laptop is not the best piece of kit for video editing tbh, maybe a good idea to sell the lappy and invest in a Quad core pc, they are very very cheap at the moment.
