Best way to get rid of Bed Bugs

Hi, recently went on holiday. When I got back, realised I had brought back some bed bugs. Anyone know what the best way to get rid of them is? Searched on google but just get loads of companies selling different types of bug killers.

New York, most likely on clothing i left lying round hotel room.

I saw New York on the news the other night, they have a major problem with bed bugs, having to shut places so they can fumigate them !
#8
They've taken over New York. Hotels & major stores have had to close down due to infestations.
Its worth getting the professionals in as early as possible before they spread.
Otherwise you need to wash all your clothes & bedding, clean out the bedroom completely, freeze pillows & duvets, clean out suitcases etc. You only have to let a couple escape & you're back to square one...

is it ok to put a sheet over the plastic cover?
yer its fine just treat it as a normal bed we first used it as the new house we moved to had to be fumigated for fleas and we were getting bit to pieces at night stuck these on no more bites put on and sheet then your cover good to go

60 degree wash will kill them but its the eggs they leave behind that will hatch in your bed

Seems from this as if your only hope is to hire

to identify the locations and then zap with DDT.

More seriously, I guess the best advice would come from your local environmental health people.

As it is the w/e I would spray everything with fly killer and drag it all outside and hope for below zero temps. Are they actually in your bed/mattress or stilll in your clothes.

NY sounds like it has a plague. oO
#14
or the other option is a good old flame thrower
#15
wash your sheets and pillowcases and hoover your mattress and base with cylinder hoover or pipe on you upright

every bed has bed bugs(well apart from mine)
after a year 20% of the weight of your pillow is made up of bed bugs so i'd hate to know how much weight they add to the mattress

Anyone who keeps their pillows for a year needs to have a word with themselves.

I change my pillows every 3 months and mattress twice a year.

You change you mattress twice a year? What do you do - crap in it? Our mattress cost £800.... I'd be boggered if I was going to change that every 6 months.

Yep, twice a year. I cannot have anything too soft as I find it uncomfortable. We usually opt for a superior outlast (500) and they are only about £300-£400. So we spend about £800 a year. Its only about £15 per week.

How much do you spend on a mattress and why change so often?
I've had the same one for the last 12 years now and its as good as new (plus bed bug free)

I cannot stand mattresses which go too soft after time. It needs to be a firm mattress.
[mod]#22
Although, recently I have found the same mattresses cheaper..

My mattress is as firm as i like it to be, if i want it firmer i just add more water

I genuinely would have a perfect nights sleep just laying on a floor. I don't know what it is.

Have you any idea why they have a 10 year warranty? Obviously if there is a problem, you could just take it back?

Must be bliss having a third world outlook! It's something you probably just get used to I guess, though I'm sure all the other family members will be relieved you are not in their bed.

Haha brilliant, the bait actually worked, I can read you like a book.

I think you may be thinking of dust mites. They're different.

To be honest, I was being serious. So what you are trying to say is that only post to incite negative comments? Probably the only thing you've said that makes any sense and I don't disagree that you do so, though clearly in this instance your reply is a lie and only made to incite, unlike your initial comment.

Strong F5 BTW my little Burkha wearing stalking buddy. (PS do you take it off when you're sleeping on the floor?)

inb4 images of irons and further unbelievable excuses.

To which you still haven't explained the reason for the preference! Jeez.... do you think hotels change mattresses every 6 months! That must be a nightmare for you!
#32
Embarrassed are we?

Yes, yes you are.

And thanks for using the same joke you've had for months, never gets old for you does it, or has that old brain of yours finally showing signs of age?

Not really because if the mattress is THAT soft I will just sleep on the floor. One or two nights in a hotel isnt a problem. Living at home is a completely different matter.

I am disappointed for you. The old F5 trick took 2 minutes this time (it was only a minute before), but I'm guessing it was getting those little fingers a working whilst making sure your eyes weren't being covered with your lovely choice in clothing.

PS your replies make no sense and show desperation. I'd probably advise for you to just admit you have been well and truly PWNED and move on. But that would deny me the joy of seeing you make a complete fool of yourself, which is entertaining. (Seriously.)

Inb4 name calling, personal abuse and tears.

You're getting better. 4 minutes this time - and it was just a reference you needed to respond to! Good old F5 eh!

Still, at least it keeps you off the streets and able to do your guard duties here.... Don't miss anything!

You can never offend me though can you, as hard as you try you can never do it (or make a decent joke). Just mumble to yourself about random things regarding F5, Burkas, being female and keeping me off the streets etc.

I do enjoy it though, keep it coming OAP.

Just purchased a pest spray can from local hardware shop & sprayed the matteress, carpet, bed frame & side cabinet. I've closed the windows & will leave the room for a few hours. Hope that does the job. They also had these smoke bombs for getting rid of bed bugs, but they were very expensive.

crikey I would have bought the smoke bombs to make sure they were all gone. eehhh got the heebie jeebies just thinking about it
