Hi, off to Florida in 6 weeks, i keep seeing people talk about the nationwide account for spending abroad, i presume you can just take money out for free while over there, with that in mind, would it be best to

1. Get a post office money card, free online, free to take money out, although have to keep check of what's on it, although will get todays exchange rate

2. Travellers cheques

3. $$$$ cash

4. Nationwide account, presume would get the exchange rate at the time of withdrawl

Or any other ideas for what we should do?

Thanks in advance

take UK currency with you to change over there in case your card is not accepted in the ATMs. Ive always found paying by Debit card has always worked out cheaper than changing money over.

When I went to egypt I took Egyptian Pounds in cash, when I got there I found the exchange rates were so much better and comission free that I should have just taken my debit card or british pounds

i use nationwide everytime. you get the exchange rate at the time of withdrawl, its free to use oversea's and means you dont need to carry more then you need at any one time

AS well as a bit of cash, have you considered using an international credit card, tell them you are going first so they don't lock you out but a very safe way of taking funds abroad

So i can take over my debit card and won't be charged to withdraw money from an ATM, won't be charged to use it as a debit card in shops and restaurants and will be able to view the balance at the ATM?

Is that right> sorry for the stupid questions!! :)
