Best/worst job you ever had?

Mine was working in a zoo in Poland for a month. Helping feed and clean up after animals. I would say it was the best as it's something that I would have never thought I could do but also the worst as I spend a large portion of my day shovelling SH*T.

GM of a supposedly posh bar in a city... Hated every moment... Was soooo glad the day I handed my notice in, that I took 6 months off... (That was my favourite job, I recommend 6 months off to everyone!)

Worst - On the biscuit counter in John Lewis basement, after finishing uni. It would have been an alright job except my co-'workers' were such lay abouts, so I ended up doing all the serving and whatever else needed doing when I had a spare second. I left after 2 weeks, leaving the lazy dossers to it. I was starting 'proper' work in the September!! Best.

Working in a timber yard over a very hot summer. Feeding timber into a machine to make decking in a large corrugated shed was awful. Couple that with the fact my hands were permanently shredded from the wood makes it something I wouldn't go back to ever.

Volunteering at my local dog club and learning how to train puppies on basic social, obedience, and house training. Was very rewarding. I loved being around so many adorable puppies :) Oh.. that was my best job by the way!

The best one was a girl I met up in London at a smirnoff event. Very slow and intense.

The worst my girlfriend when drunk, sometimes hurts.

My worst was being in a factory.. The highlights were ironing hundreds of bits of material, and also sticking QC stickers.. on hundreds of bits of material. It was one of those dreary factories with no windows, so in the height of Summer, the 28ish degree heat, plus the heat from the iron and no fresh air.. I couldn't stick any more of it and I ended up escaping out of the toilet window during my break! What can I say, I was only 17!

The best was just working in a dept store. I was learning new stuff, the people were nice and for once I didn't hate every day. Nothing special I know, but I was happy all the same!

the job i have now is my favourite :) i do the accounts and admin for a small boutique hotel and my bosses are so lovely. they bring me endless supplies of coffee and get the chefs to feed me hot food if it's cold out. the work is really varied too, one minute i'll be on sage doing the accounts and the next i'll be doing something completely different like choosing and buying a wedding cake for a wedding reception! also the building is so beautiful so work in really lovely surroundings :)
hawkins bazaar is close second, was paid to play with toys!

worst job had to be my saturday job i had at 16 worked in a shop in a village selling baby clothes and balls of wool! was sooo boring, no one used to come in the shop all day, i used to just sit there and do my a level coursework.

I worked in a jam factory for three weeks until my back gave way. It was like being on a Russian prison ship. factory whistles and steam pouring about all the time and the 15 minute break was timed to the second. A nightmare.

Not had any really bad jobs myself, but had a friend a uni who spent a summer working for Portaloo, and his biggest job (pun intended) was collecting and transporting the toilets from the Reading Festival. Apparently the people he worked with did this as a career - I guess it encouraged him to study hard when he got back to Uni though!

Being a parent beats my hardest days work hands down.

Its not paid, but then again would you class volunteering work as not a job because the job centre wouldn't class it as a job?

I just think that too many people especially in this country think I have had a baby so I have an excuse to sit on my lazy fat a***e and type rubbish on the internet all day.

That is not a job, I know other people are able to work and have children.

They must be super- heroes oO

You've opened a can of worms there!!!

Expect a bit of a backlash!

My wife had to stay off work because my daughter requires 24/7 care.
As soon as she started school in reception, my wife went straight out and got a part time job.
For some people, putting their child in nursery etc would cost them more money than they earn, hence they would want to stay at home to bring up their child.

Not everyone has not aspirations in life - many people simply cannot afford to work. Blame the government not the people.

i don't know one person who has a child who doesn't want to work - those who dont are forced not to work because they would be worse off.

Setting up and monitoring sound equipment for a 'band' playing in working mens clubs in the north east.

I don't smoke, but they sure did and the stink of it would stick to my clothes no matter how much I washed them. I had to store any clothes I wore in a bin bag in the garage or it would stink the house out.

My worst job was when I was 19 and my friend and i took on this extra job to help pay for our girls holiday. It was working Friday and Saturday night putting leaflets inside newspapers and magazines and OMG was just awful. Was 12 hours shifts and there was a woman with a megaphone constantly screaming WAKE UP oO We were so exhausted by end of it all as also working full time through the week But it got us lots of spends for our fab holiday (which I still have brilliant memories of :) )

Best job - what am doing now with my business. Though things slowly changing - but for the better.

Worst job, modelling fur coats in a posh shop on King Street Manchester when I was 17 and vegetarian
Best job, ooh tricky that. I have loved working in bars, nursing and being a Mum. Being a Mum definitely the hardest job of all, if you try to do it properly.
