When i say risky i mean just because they are new, scammers do not normally put in an address but to be honest i would still stay clear

Unlikely that the address given is much more than a mailing address used by many companies. Google street view ;-)

Anybody used this site yet? Some of the prices seem too good to be true... normaly only means one thing.

zero contact details on the site too, avoid.

Only reason i was interested because the had the logitech G19 keyboard for only £60 and wow thats cheap. but maybe too cheap lol

I was just looking at the HP Touchsmart TM2 on this site as well, price seems too good to be true. At first I thought it might just be a pre-VAT price but actually VAT isn't mentioned at all, and the ordering form seems quite happy to take my money without calculating delivery charges.

    Think I might pass.

Their FAQ section has been stolen from stockinthechannel.com/. This is a 99.999999% a scam site.

why do visa and mastercard allow these people to take credit cards

why do visa and mastercard allow these people to take credit cards

They probably aren't - most likely is that the site sells your details onto the black market.

Both kdagets.co.uk and hdbestelectronics.com are almost almost certainly scam/phising sites written by the same people/persons (who are stealing their content from other sites).

If you have entered your credit card details (you'll find the order comes up "Declined") - you should phone up your credit card companies fraud team ASAP and tell them your card details have been compromised.

If you registered on either website using the same password / username you use on other accounts (webmail account, twitter, facebook) you need to also consider other accounts compromised. Change your passwords ASAP.

call me dumb but never actually thought about this aspect. All a scam site has to do is to have the logos and a fake authentication system and they're in

Wonder if VISA etc would actually cover you in these circumstances

I doubt it in which case I;m sticking to well renowned sites
  18. scot1967's avatar
    thanks for all ur advice.

You would think visa mastercard could approve all sites which took u straight to their approval system. I know it is billion of sites but if you give your password to a dodgy site once and as ashleypride says ur details are compromised, would visa turn round and say you let others have your password so its ur problems. They dont seem to give a damn about the consumer.

almost got caught out, but found the invoice odd saying declined, but had taken all my details, quickly rang the c/card compney and had the card stopped before any payment was taken or any extra use of my card.

I've just been caught out by besthdelectronics.com.

I needed some headphones and a Google Shopping result showed that direct-techs.co.uk offered a great price, which in hindsight was too good to be true. I purchased the item online using my Amazon Mastercard and got an email confirming my order had been received. Looking at direct-techs.co.uk, they are related to besthdelectronics.com. Despite several emails, I've had no response.

I've not contacted my cc company to say that my details have been compromised. So far thankfully, no money has come out of my card after 8 days. They have stopped the card. I can't find any more info online about direct-techs.co.uk. Any help, anyone?

Spotted "Declined" on the order status.
THEN, I found this site. Card cancelled & replaced.
    Stick to Amazon!

Good to see this page, was asking them about a particular laptop, I mean it was over £100 cheaper than elsewhere, but yeh must be a scam site

I think its about time Google/Google-Shopping started taking some responsibility for their part in this HUGE scam culture they promote.

They include 100's of scam sites as part of their search results on the shopping tab, without ever checking the company's credentials.
  25. deleted275824's avatar
I agree with you, Adidas Addict. I was naive because they came top in my Google Shopping result. It seems that these scam sites sell on credit card details, so if you've given yours online as I have done, ensure you cancel it straightaway. Direct-techs.co.uk is registered to an individual in Thornton Heath - do you think it wise for me to report them to the local police or trading standards? I bet I won't be the last to order from direct-techs.

Me too.Was looking at in all in one pc yesterday and they were over £100 cheaper than anywhere else.Only reason I didn't order was because it was a site I had never heard of before and wont risk it.

Looking at the Terms and Conditions......

BestHdElectronics does not accept orders from home users or private individuals. We only accept orders on a business to business basis from selected companies; organisations and government funded bodies. We reserve the right to decline any account application and any order.

BestHdElectronics reserves the right to increase its prices after acceptance of an order due to an increase in its supplier's price to BestHdElectronics or an increase in direct costs to which BestHdElectronics becomes subject (including without limit, costs resulting from currency fluctuation) but BestHdElectronics shall only increase its price by such level as is necessary to reflect such increases. .........Prices are checked regularly, however if we find the price has changed when we receive your order we will contact you and ask if you wish to proceed.

9.2 BestHdElectronics retains the right at its sole discretion whether to accept the return of goods and if so a restocking fee of up to 50% will be charged.
9.3 In no circumstances are returns accepted for non-faulty goods after 7 days following delivery.

Im glad i looked into this, stood to make a £60 saving on a laptop but obviously im staying clear now! You can save money with legitimate smaller companies but this is obviously a scam going by the site and everyone else's experience.
  29. gari189's avatar
Their site should be blocked from the Google "shopping" results - anyone know how this can be reported to Google.

Or here's a novel idea how about Bitter Wallet doing something constructive (maybe exposing the site, contacting google, publishing the response or non-response of google) instead of making jokes about a guy dying in an accident.

Wish I'd seen these messages earlier. I'll learn for next time, Cheap is not always best!

I ordered and instantly got suspicious - paypal told me there was fraudulent use of my account. I stopped my credit card and changed my paypal details. Their confirmation email to me was odd and the link doesn't work. Also details on their website lifted directly from other websites (try copying first paragraph and pasting into google - up it comes!) Avoid.
  32. deleted279002's avatar
I should add that their site now has a phone number. But put it into google and it goes to a hair extension company!

    elitestylz.co.uk/

    Mmm.

I was interested in a sat-nav from this company. However when they asked for my Date Of Birth on their order form I became suspicious and sighed off. Dont ever give your DOB to anyone online unless you are sure it is a bona fide site, as they can steel your identity.

Ordered a TV via Directtech and grew suspicious when I got their email. Website details were not included. Their phone number resulted in "does not receive incoming calls". Rang and cancelled my card and changed passwords.

i have just recently had payments pending to be taken out of my account today and have linked it back to the besthdelectronics website transactions i tried to make these showed as declined, and i phoned the bank immediatly. i was advised (probably a little naively) that nothing was showing and that this should be ok. The transactions have been stopped now and hopefully i will be able to therefore stop the amounts. (although not certain). i may add that since this has happened, my bank have been very helpful in this incedent. never again will i look at little known sites with too good to be true offers. i'll stick to the big boys... thankyou to all on this site for the helpful info...
Although i know that i will get the money back i do feel like finding the scum who did this and breaking bones. harsh but by no means fair, i think.
