Biased reviews

I have just been talking to Argos/Homebase about the reviews of items on their websites, and was told they pick which reviews will appear.

How can people judge an item accurately if they don't put all reviews up, just the ones they like the look of?

Did everyone else know this already, and I am the only one who naively thought I could trust reviews?!

Misc thread, but I bet most sites do this.

Don't want slander on there own sites.
To be fair Argos do put negative comments up too, but yes i bet most companies do vet what goes on the reviews pages.
I think it can only be slander if it's actually a lie - if it's someones honest opinion, then it is as valid as a good review, surely?
You might like something other's don't.
cant remeber which site but i think its currys, when i was looking the had negitive reviews and then comments from the company suggesting ways to fix the problem
I think we would see lot's of swearing :giggle:

They sent me a follow up request for a review on a shed I ordered online from Homebase which was a misprice and subsequently cancelled, so I left a review saying all the items I ordered the shed for to keep them dry got soaked everytime it rained and ended up rusty/mouldy, they published that one.
i should imagine they just vet them for swearing/slander type things. I do see bad reviews on there too?
banned#11 are the absolute worst for this

posted 4 reviews of which 3 were negative. Only the positive one appeared!
