Well, according to Sir Alex anyway ........ lol

Birmingham City have signed Ben Foster from Man Utd on a 3 yr contract.

He has a lot to live up to after the success of Joe Hart but Joe joined us in the same circumstances really and he has had a great season so lets hope Foster follows suit !!

Well done Blues, quality signing.

Im afraid to say Ben Foster is no Joe Hart cockle, have you actually seen Foster play?

The fact that baconface let him go and replaced him with a child just about says it all.

I think 6 million for a none international, none first team keeper is a bit of a gamble tbh.

Although I know blues have a respected keeper academy so hopefully they can do the same job they did on Hart and keep England supplied with 1st class keepers.

I am assuming they must have tried to sign Hart first though which sort of proves he isn't leaving City, can't imagine he (or Given) are going to be very happy being a bench warmer though.

I think you'll find David James WILL be Englands number 1 for the World Cup

They lost England No 1 back to City and got England No 6

I'd rather have Rooney in goal than Foster he's mince and no where near worth 6 million

I was at the end of season awards dinner last week and joe picked up a few awards and said in his speech that he wanted to stay but it wasn't down to him, the peers were having none of it at eastlands unfortunately.

Miserable bar stewards eh ......

Not sure if you realise this but Joe Hart was Manchesters first team keeper before he was Birminghams you know

i think he'll do a good job, after a good pre season and a good run of games, he should settle in and become a good keeper for the blues

Did you expect him to say he wanted to go at a club function!?:-D

But yes I'd like to be playing first team football too. But then I'd probably look at my pay packet every week and think what the hell!:-D

Steve Harper should be Englands #1

Obviously not  but he generally did want to stay.

Depending on givens injury, if he is back sharpish then he will only be warming the bench again.

hmm I'm suprised big eck never went for alan mcgregor, for £6 million we'd probably have chucked in kyle lafferty as well.

To be fair, the rumours around brum and at the awards last week was that he would be bringing mcgregor and boyd in together.

Oh well lol

He's by far the best of the 3 in the squad, much as I like James.
The upcoming friendlies will put him into the spotlight.

Well at least your sorted, our club (Notts) don't have any goalies on the books after we had to let Kasper go. People moan that the other two were rubbish but £1k a week doesn't get you much in football these days!

Heard them as well and to be honest I wouldn't have bet aginst mcgergor going especially as mcgregors no 2 alexander has said he now wants to stay but he boyd to the premiership thing still amazes me, there is no way on this earth that kris boyd can hack that league, no way. He's to slow, can barely conrtrol the ball and has one serious attitude problem.

It's all very well standing on the 6 yard line and tapping them in against hamilton accies but up against john terry etc he'll just embarrass himself and I can't see even big eck wasting wages on him. I'll be amazed if boyd ends up at brum or any other team in the premiership.

After the season he has had i would totally disagree.

He won't exactly be full of confidence now will he, never commands his box or defenders.

If we are going on form and confidence then Hart would be no 1 for me after seeing him play wekk in week out all season.

I disagree, but thats the point of a bit of friendly banter.
It'll be James or Green but I still reckon Green.

Heart says hart but i think he will go with the experience of james .......... :-(

No, never were rich. It was a con by 2 business men who lost all their money in the credit crisis. So they used Nott's, Sven and being interested in buying the old BMW F1 team to make them look credible so people would invest in them. Now they have gone missing with all the money.

So we are back to running it as a normal business concern so kaspers £14k a week is not realistic. But the new owner (Ray Trew) has done a fantastic job since he's bee at the club. Bring on league 1!

I like James, but he's still likely to drop the odd clanger. Whichin a world cup could cost.

Your right on James and Green being about evenly match since both their clubs had 66 premier league goals scored on them. Capeollo IMO should go with Hart he has had a great season (only 47 PL goals aginaist Birmingham) and he is young so England can start having a regular goalkeeper for a long time instead of all the chopping and changing.

Hart did have a good season, can't deny that. And I agree with you about a regular keeper, But is he gonna get regular 1st team football next season?

Doubt it if he stays at Man City as Given is a better keeper at the moment. But James mightn't get it either although I think the World Cup could be James last contribution in an England shirt.

Birmingham have always had decent goal keepers, must be all the practice they get.

Do you have to be a plank 24/7, if he was that good why did you feel the need to buy Given and then let Hart go out on loan?

Because they were doing what every football club tries to do, improve the team. Given was a better keeper and more experienced when he came to City so it gave them a chance to sent Hart out to get regular football while gaining experience and improving

his record speaks for itself this season 13 clean sheets....... and for the 2002 world cup 4 out of 5 clean sheets

Joe Hart should be England no.1 no questions.

Green and James both had a relegation battle this season.

Hart's clean sheets helped Birmingham immensly in actually staying up. I remember hearing that blues hadn't won more than a few games by more than a goal.

Foster is a GREAT shot stopper. He just needs confidence. Too much pressure on him at a team like United. Hopefully he is flourish at Birmingham.
#39
joe hart doesnt have the experience on an international level for starters........this is a world cup not a friendly

...it isnt just the goalkeeper that is responsible for a teams ability to keep a clean sheet.
