Bit gob smacked by the polices recent responses to vandalism

The vandalism to my cars continues, had 2 plain clothes policemen visit me late evening and told me to get 3 garages! (these policemen seemed to know nothing about how long or just how many crimes i had reported over a 4 month period) ermmm 2 of the vehicles wont fit in a standard size council garage and i cant afford to pay rent on 3 garages either,i shouldnt have to
They then said that they have "assesed" the situation and they can see why the mg is constantly getting vandalised................the reason being..............because it stands out!!

lol I thought it was some sort of joke but no they were deadly serious about it,there are cars parked down there that are worth 4 times the amount of the mg but they dont get touched,it seems as soon as i get one pc to agree that the vandalism is linked to us the next one comes along with an excuse

...or get CCTV?

get the feeling they can't be bothered?

Have you set up a camera to monitor the area where your cars are parked? I know its a bit of extra cost but you might get some clues as to whats going on.

gosh thats so sucky mardy!!!

honestly it looks like ur on your own doesnt it which is appalling....cos ur the ne that pays taxes and the kids that vandalise ur crime have the police on their side! grrr!!

my car got broke into a couple of months ago...tried hotwiring it and couldnt get round the immobiliser...idiots...anyway my point being i reported it and a couple of days after they called me back and asked if i had found out who had done it....was not impressed :S

it is such a shame that people can't have something different from everyone else without hassle.. and as for the police comments.. 3 garages... and because it stands out.. hardly an excuse to damage someones belongings...

sorry officier i couldn't help myself it just stood out from the rest.... hardly a reason you would get off in court with is it....

can you go to someone higher up in the police and make a complaint, maybe get in touch with you local MP and contact the papers etc...

other option.. is to move... sorry you are getting a rough time.
#6
why dont you start a neighbourhood watch - or get community police to come round more often?
#7
get back in touch and ask that you be put in touch with the neighbourhood team sgt that covers your area(beat) you should be able to find it out also by going onto your polices website and click on neighbourhood policing then the area you live in....... You should get a better response from your neighbourhood team as that is what they have been set up to deal with....... Response officers will just come fill out the paperwork and give you a crime number and have to move on to the next call...... Where as neighbourhood teams have got time to look at crimes and try and see patterns, trends etc to identify offenders..... If your not happy with the response so far you really need to speak to neighbourhood sgt......Good Luck amd dont give up on the police.

Declare you believe it is acts of terrorism, it achieved results when my aunt had vandalism.

I've written to the mp who had a hard job getting the police to respond to him, they sent a pretty lapse response back saying it was a densley populated area blah blah and wasnt a cause for concern however they would step up the beats in the area
Another police officer dealing with some of the vandalism has written to the council as i also have to request cctv within the area, another wrote asking them to provide me with 3 garages!!

I'm still looking to move theres just nothing thats suitable as yet, either far too small or far too expensive

Crime prevention phoned me last week and gave me a website link, they want me to fork out over £100 for special sensors to sit on the cars but why should i keep spending out when it feels thats all im doing, ive paid enough out in repairing the damage caused to the cars.

The officer who was trying to get cameras installed in the cars has not got back to me as yet and i cant seem to get hold of him either, feels like im banging my head off a brick wall here

What force do you come under and as i said try neighbourhood sgt or write to the station inspector
#11
gonna write to the CC now and see what he has to say,its hampshire constab, there isnt a neighbourhood watch in the area, after i wrote to the mp 2 police officers visited me and i raised all my concerns with them, they then went and spoke to some neighbours who also agreed neighbourhood watch may help so the police officers went away promising they would step to it and arrange a community meeting, noone ever heard anything else back from them but neighbours did all notice they put a neighbourhood watch notice up on a lamppost!

have you spoken to your housing officer? as it obvious you are being singled out, they should be protecting not just you as a tenant but the local area as well
#17
my housing officer is away on maternity leave and despite me keep ringing and the police writing letters to them to get someone to contact me or help me in someway noone has got in touch

Look at the days in which its happpening. Is it every friday or saturday night when bars close etc. Basically, is it some guy who walks by your house every week and found it to be hilarious to beat down on your car.

Either way the police won't help you, its rediculous but from their perspective its a low priority since you arent directly been hurt. All you can do in a situation like this is man the hell up, grab the machette from the shed and lie in wait. Obv don't use it but offer a deterant, a reason for the guy to perhaps go next door and beat down on his cars instead. Act loud, act aggressive and act, in the wise words of the dog whisper..dominant. These people prey on the helpless so stop being helpless. Show some balls and they will, for the best part back down. Other times they may get a large gang and come and rape your family. But for the best part they back down.

Sure, it sounds very rambo'ey but these people prey on people who do nothing.

Oh, and don't dress up as batman.

ive tried working out which days it occurs on mainly and yes youre correct it seems to be weekends more than weekdays,I still believe it is a bunch of tearaways that are as young as 12 who run riot that are behind it all

http://www.hampshire.police.uk/Internet/localpolicing/
Click on the link then click on the areas of the map that covers where you live and you will finally find out who covers your area, then get in touch directly with that neighbourhood police sergent. and explain problems to him or set up a meeting with him yourself....

then do it, i have heard of people doing it just when they fancy a move, so get ya butt down and get some buttons pushed

formal complaint i think is the way forward phone up the council say you want to make a complaint about your situation as you have had no support from your housing officer. They should have a complaint procedure or even a form that you can send or email back to them remeber they are not just resposible for your home but the enviroment as well, they should be working with the police or suport officers to keep all their tenants safe and happy - oh and send a copy to your local MP. Know is a bit drastic but i dont think you are getting the suport you need rehousing you should only be a final option

Serious just move they aint gonna stop...dunno what you have done to annopy them so much but god they quit...

I've just spoken to the council again who are saying they cant get involved unless the person/s doing the vandalism are tenants or theirs! blimey you could just go round and round in circles all day long

complaint letters it is,they can all have one :)

i reckon the moment anyone touches them they will be arrested for assault, thats the way it goes :x
#32
I think you're right- that's the frustrating thing about these young yobs- they're clever enough to know that they can get you done for assault if you touch them.

Make sure no one sees you giving a talking to them, find out who they are and target them one by one.
