yet again virgin have had to come out to look at the broadband that keeps going off, different chap today and when i let him in i warned him the parrot was out and he didnt like men.
Virgin guy set to work on the cabl modem,i went downstairs to put the home phone back on the base and heard him shout so came running upstairs and the parrot has bitten him on top of his head.(it did draw blood)

Now I apologised profusely but the guy said he was gonna call his boss and that he shouldnt be attacked whilst working etc etc,all in all he isnt a happy chappy and neither would i be cos it looked a nasty bite but what can i do now?
The birds insured but im not sure if it covers bites to others,by the sounds of this guy he wanted to take it as far as he could ,he has left without finishing the job and im just left wondering whats gonna happen next.
Do i call virgin (have the area managers number from problems with the bb) or do i sit tight and wait

i didnt put him away as he is normally out from 8am onwards,if virgin or anyone else make an appointment i make sure he is out of the way but virgins appointment was meant to be tomorrow so took me by suprise being early than planned
#7
I think you will be on the local news soon.

Call your insurance company.

you should be covered by your house insurance
#9
if they can put dogs away for biting humans. Then same should go for other animals!
Btw you should have put the parrot away if u already knew its habits
#10
yes in hindsight i should of put him away but whats done is done now
#11
bless i know he took u by surprise, but u could have put mr parrot away as soon as virgin man came,. i know ur not here for this...but just for next time.... cos looks like this guy isnt gonna let u off easy....
#12
Sorry to hear this, but very close to PMSL even though I shouldn't

Ring your Home Insurance company...........they should cover you. Just discuss it with them and make sure you are covered.

Unless their is a claim then it won't go against you so it won't hurt to ring them. :)

You have to feel sorry for the bloke though, you should have put the bird in the cage. I always put my dog in a room when someone comes round as she can be a bit exciteable with strangers and it's not worth the risk of her getting carried away and the risk of her being put down.
#14
You could of put the parrot away, but if the Virgin Guy turned up earlier than the pre-arranged time, then how on earth would you of caught the parrot instantly. Im guessing it would take you a few mins to catch the parrot?

You warned him, so he knew what he was letting himself in to.

Silly man

Good Luck x x

How are you going to get your broadband sorted - must be big worry
#17
thats funny, tell him not to be such a miserable bleeder. my other half works for british gas and one day he was mending a radiator and a dog wee all over him( cocked his leg up and everything) i thought this was hilarious and so does he now but didnt at the time. lol
once he has calmed down he may see the funny side of it

Hmm gettin a bit of dog slash on your uniform or having an experience akin to a fork jabbed into your head by suprise, aint quite the same thing imo

what did the man say when you warned him the parrot was out and he didn't like men? did he ask you to put it back in the cage or did he say its ok?
#20
I would contact his area manager and explain how sorry you are and the situation that he came at a time that was not agreed but you have a sorry card and a bottle of whisky / vodka for him.

Its worth a shot, if you dont get any joy, ask where he is based, and drop it off for him.

It might seem a bit daft to do but i am sure if he is thinking about taking it further your gesture would help.

it does take me a while to catch him and even longer now my arms plastered, ive just spoken to the area manager who already knew what had happened and said as far as he concerned its one of those things and nothing will be done about it,he is sending a different guy out to finish the job today, have also spoken to the insurers who assured me that my legal expenses would be covered should the guy wish to take it further, what a morning so far:cry:

he said oh thats ok!

Oh Mardy a similar thing happened with my sister and her african grey, he attacked the British Gas man who tried to claim against her for his injuries. It was ridiculous, he was claiming for migraines, fear of birds and everything

Fingers crossed this guy will see the funny side later in the day

i would have the parrot tested and get it a tetanus shot. who know what it could catch from a 'virgin' engineer. you never know where they were before coming to your house

I would have lol'd if paracetamol was a reason to avoid a place.
#34
Well, he could take you to court worst case scenario. You did say the parrot was out and didnt like guys so you knew the inevitable was gonna happen!

He could have, and should have refused to enter the house until you confined the parrot. He will probably take his employer to court tho.

If the guy was warned and he said "its ok" and he turned up a day earlier than he should, I dont see how he can sue anyone. Yes its unfortunate, but its hardly your fault, your arm is in plaster and you couldn't catch the bird quickly enough. Had he turned up at the correct time, the bird would have been in its cage... at least, thats what you tell your lawyer.
