Ordered the girlfriend a fairly expensive coat off 'net (as you do) for her birthday (friday).
This was three weeks ago. The seller (big ish uk company) dispatched via UPS on the friday, tracked it online and was apparently delivered on the Monday.
Tracking info shows item was signed for by my neighbour (name given, not a common name, definitely him). Thing is, since then, he hasn't been home since!
There's letters sticking out of his letter box, definitely no activity.
Really need this for Friday - what can I do?!?!?

Can you phone your neighbour?

Don't know his number. It's a block of flats, his door is literally four feet away from mine.
Can usually hear him through the wall, but nothing for ages. He's just a young chap (25) so unlikely to have died or anything.

you have not recieved the item, so get back in touch with them as they have a signature which is not yours, so its still there problem, and they should dispatch another coat right away, they will claim there money back from ups.

Log out of HUKD for five minutes and start thinking for yourself. I'm sure you'll come up with a solution. Maybe even step outside and talk to some real live people - in the flesh! But remember, it's a big bad world out there, and, if you are as nasty to people offline as you often are to people online, you might get a punch in the face :)

Note: This is a joke

p.s. You really have a girlfriend?!

Note: That was another joke.

Try ringing the company up, state item has not been delivered to your address and that you paid for it to be delivered to your address and not to be dumped else where.
If they can get another one to you then great other wise get a refund and let the courier people deal with the problem.
May not solve the problem outright, but I do hate it when they, the courier, dump parcels on other people knowing that, out of guilt, they will sign for it.

Ah, I thought as long as they had a signature they could claim it was delivered?!

Um, three floors up :) And he's a hairdresser (although don't know where). Really shouldn't have taken it if he knew he wouldn't be there.

Thanks for the genuine help guys, will leave rep.

Ignoring the troll obviously.

ups should not of delivered to another address without your authorisation.

they should leave you a card if you are not in and will try and deliver again on another day\

on the card is details for you to sign the card and leave on your door authorising to leave with a neighbour

contact the company selling and get another delivered.

on another note maybe have a peep through the neighbours door to see if he is ok! he may be young but bas things can happen to anyone.

a friend of mine had a heartattack at 27 fell down in the bathroom and died, his gf found him the next day
absoloutley awful thing to happen
god bless his soul

similar thing happened to me ..bought something from debenhams..neighbour signed for delivery wen i was out...then went on holiday for a week...I phoned debenhams they sent out the item again.......and eventually once my neighbour came back and gave me the parcel..I had two......
not really obv. i sent that one back.......so phone up the company......

cheers jellybaby, lines have closed so fired off an email.

Just don't want them to think I'm at it, esp. when it's been "signed for" :?

Used to work for mail order - the company you ordered from are still responsible for the coat and the will claim the amount back from the carrier namely UPS - insist on one being despatched on next day delivery - if not complain to director of company.

I'm well aware of the irony, but you got to admit the comic timing was pretty good
