Soo its my time to upgrade my old LG Viewty for a new phone from o2.

They have given me some offers but im not sure which phone I would prefer so I am looking for some info from people that have had or used these phones etc.

So theres the Blackberry Bold 9000, Blackberry Curve 8900 and the iPhone 3G.

Ive read reviews but id like to hear from you guys :-)

So what do u think is the best? Any problems etc?

Any info would be great thanks.

iPhone absolutely every time.

HTC phones are brill and whilst they are different from the ubiquitous i-phone, they have features the i-phone doesn't (such as being able to do more than one thing at a time) and, at least with my touch diamond, are much smaller

If you want a multimedia device then get an iPhone. If you want a phone, then get a blackberry. They're far and away the best phones ive ever used, even without all the additional email functionality (although this is nice).

Ive had both, and just couldnt get to grips with the touchscreen on the iphone. I gave it two months then sold and bought a Curve. I find the tactile response of actually pushing a button in, rather than just touching a piece of glass...

Personally, I wouldn't take that offer because a new iPhone is rumoured to be out next month. If it does, prices of older iPhones will drop massivly.

iphone, no debates!

The only thing is Im not that bothered about the new one cos id probably have to pay over the odds for the handset which im just not willing to do. not really sure what to do now.

Hmmm, the monthly line rental can be justified considering that you are getting a lot of minutes, a fair amount of texts, unlimited wi-fi and a brand new high-end mobile phone. With respect to the handset, I suggest you get the Samsung Omnia - it does everything the iPhone does and more courtesy of opensource WM applications/programs. I doubt they will charge you extra for the Omnia handset but if I was in your position I would try to haggle the monthly line rental down to £20, and if that failed stick to your guns at £25.

Another iphone vote......

Although I'd wait for the new one even if you want the old 3g, you will get a much better deal on the old iphone when the new one is released.

thanks for all your comments, i dont know what will happen if i choose to wait because my upgrade is due now.

not too sure what to do as at the moment my contract is
unltd texts
1000 mins
free calls to other on same network
£20 a month so its a good tariff just my phone is sooo old.

Nothing will happen. You don't need to upgrade immediately after your contract length is finished. You can upgrade months later if you wish.

Wait a month imo.

My sister just got from Carphone Warehouse:
24 month contract (ouch!)
Free Sony Ericsson C905
600 mins
20,000 texts
£25 a month.

20,000 texts - unlimited to all intents and purposes!!!

Yeah, you have no obligation to upgrade by a certain deadline. If you are happy with your existing tariff, why don't u purchase your desired handset from Fleabay - you'll probably get it cheaper there as opposed to tying yourself into a lengthy 18-month contract.
#24
yeah i didn t really think about buying it from ebay
would i still be able to get insurance on it?
i might give them a phone back and see if theres any lee way with the tariff :-)thanks

edit: ok, looks like they are £300 off on ebay, wont be doing that! lol

OK! This is driving me nuts now and I'll imagine it's largely those who don't own iphones just piping in with what they've mis-read!

THERE IS NO NEW IPHONE NEXT MONTH, there is a new Firmware (3.0) which is highly believed to come in July but nothing has been announced yet and there is supposedly a new iphone coming early next year, again, no announcements yet so will peple please stop giving rubbish advice whenever somebody asks if they should get an iphone, everytime I see a thread for the last 5 months there has been the imminent response of, hold on, new one next month.

Apple aren't going to announce it then sell it the next day, it'll be months before it hits the shops AFTER announcement
