Hi, im with vodafone and i am due for an upgrade but they are only offering me the same deal as new cutomers could get, for the blackberry storm. I have an iPhone at the minute (the 2G one, unlocked obviously) and i love it but thought i would try the blackberry for a change as i cant afford the new iPhone on a proper contract. Has anyone been offered a better upgrade price or got any reviews on this phone in comparison to the iPhone??

I'd be interested to hear if there has been anyone that has managed to get a better deal than those advertised for new customers. I really don't think that there will be much give from Vodafone, especially as they aren't even able to keep up with demand on the Storm at the moment!

As for reviews, there are so many at the moment it's getting a bit silly! As a starting point, have a look on the Vodafone forums as they have set up a Blackberry Storm thread. I have just sent mine back today as it's not holding a charge and is having to be plugged in up to twice a day! I personally would not get one at the moment until the bugs have been nipped which should happen over the next month and then take a look at it! There may be better deals then also.

Threaten to leave and vodafone retentions will ring you up....... they will ask you if they can do anything to get you to stay with them and if you say what you want they nearly always give it to you. My OH has only recently dne this and got the N96 for free for only £35 a month with unlimited txts and unlimited data and 600 minutes .

He threatens to leave every 18 months and each time retentions call and sort him out.

Thanks Hitman, will leave rep for responding! I found that the iPhone doesnt hold charge too well either, guessing it because of the amount they do. My other offer is to get half price line rental for 9 months (only on a 12 month contract at the min) might do that if storms arent the best at the min-might get one later down the line..

yeah i have threatened to leave, and a different rep has rang me about 6 or 7 times now-each one ending the phone call with 'well if you think you can get a better deal then do that' basically! think its becuase they know the storm is vodafone only. they messed up my bill a year ago and made me a good deal that i have at the min, £30p/m for 600mins and unlimited texts on a 12 month contract and not the usual 18-this was a brill deal a year ago. think they think im taking advantage! :p

Thanks, rep is always welcome. :-D

I think there is meant to be some firmware that Blackberry are working on as the same faults have appeared on US handsets so Blackberry are working to get it sorted. I just wish they did their homework before as I think its very good phone, it'll take some time to get used to but offers something a bit different to the iphone. They still have some way to go though...

The 9 months half price line rental doesn't seem too bad.

To be honest you're doing well to get offered the same deal as a new customer as normally Vodafone offer far less for upgrades, the Storm is in short supply at the moment so I can understand why they are not offering perhaps the deal you want. Personally I wouldn't buy a Storm at the moment as they seem to be plagued with a few issues, also as I'm sure you're aware already you'll need an extra five pounds per month on top of a data plan to enable the Storm for data unless the tariff states Blackberry service is included.

I got offered £35 a month 600 Minutes, unlimited txts, free mobile internet & Email on 18month upgrade told them i was'nt happy with this and got put through to the cancellations department

They good offer nothing so put phone down and rang back later got put through to the cancellations department again and explaind the TMOBILE G1 IS £31.50 A MONTH on 18 month contract with similar minutes txts and internet & a free 8GB micro sd card would they be able to match this

Got offered 18 month contract £32.50
24 month Contract £27.50

Free Blackberry STORM
600 MINUTES
UNLIMITED TXTS (OR COULD HAVE HAD 250 TXTS AND UNLIMITED LANDLINE CALLS)
unlimited internet
unlimited push email
Free 8GB Micro Sd Card
Took the 18month contract as 24 too long

hope this helps really push the deal of the Tmobile G1 £31.50 with the above and you should get deal on Blackberry Storm

Apparently the Storm is awful. Either get a proper Blackberry or stick with the iPhone.
