Hi thanks for your reply, is this done easily and how much am i looking at roughly?

I have a 250gb slim so to be honest i've never done it myself, the instructions seem simple enough. I'm sure someone who has done will reply and let you know shortly :D

I done my PS3 as when I purchased it only was the 40gb but picked up a 320gb drive and replaced it then got an external hard drive enclosure for the old drive and just use that as storage for my laptop.

Your son will also want to take his game saves and trophy data onto the new drive so will need to do a backup but if you look at the guide above it should tell you how to do it and also about synching the trophies

Not sure what the maximum size you can put in or if their is a
limit but make sure you buy a 2.5" drive and not a 3.5" as simply wont fit in.

The only fiddlly part I came across was once you take the drive out you need to un-screw it from it's cage and the screws are not the best so just be careful not to thread them.

Did it with mine as well. 80gb to 320gb and it was really easy to do.
