I am looking to put my Blu Ray Collection on a Hard Drive of some sort. I have looked at the Western Digital Play 2TB Media Player.
Has anyone else done this.

You're going to want to makes sure the data is backed up if you're going to all that effort of backing discs up.

Done it. It takes a while to rip them. You'll need a lot of space. Alien took 75Gb space for a full disc rip. Still not convinced they look as good. I'm using an Asus O!Play. Software is basic.

Personally I wouldn't back up full discs, I'd just take the movie and convert to MKV with no loss in quality. 50GB discs can go down as low as 20Gb then.

How long does it you guys to back up the Full Disc.
Do i need a Blu Ray Writer or can i just copy from a Player.

My C2D server will copy and convert a disc in about 2 hours. Reckon with a faster BDROM drive and more current CPU you'd shave a fair bit off that.

You'll need a PC BD drive, don't think you can do it from a player. You don't need a BD writer though.

Yes you need software. Something to decrypt the BD disc anti-piracy measures. Slysoft's AnyDVDHD will do. Then you'll need software to convert, I use this as I like to convert audio to FLAC - http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17002

Alternative you can use DVDFab to do the whole lot, works well too.

I got an external blu ray player and gonna get anydvd HD today and give it a go.
I want to keep the quality tho,
If i convert to MKV, will i lose any quality.
