Don't think this model will have an actual pilot light or thermocouple, it'll be automatic ignition

I said this as stated pilot light wont light or come on, was sure all boilers have a thermocoupler as this also cuts gas off it pilot light goes out

there is a connection between the pcb and pilot light covered in a white plastic sheath.
is this a thermocouple or an electrical connection?

A thermo coupler is where the pilot light is and it has a solid looking 2" tube next to it and is connected by long brass wire

No, most modern gas boilers don't have a pilot light, they have automatic igniton and a flame detection unit similar to a themocouple.

Thermocouples are fitted on boilers which have a permannet pilot light
