You know as stupid as it sounds, I never actually thought about a supermarket being a target!!

Apparently its not to do with terrorism, But it could well be in future.

Wonder if anyone ran off with a trolley full of shopping?

It's weird. Staff were allowed to go back to collect personal items and shoppers were encouraged to tills to pay for groceries.

Hmmmm, i'd have been inclined to, well, leave briskly shall we say

Exactly!, Surely having everyone crowded together (Paying at the tills) is worse than 100's of shoppers scattered around different aisles.

Sounds like a tesco scam to get everyone to buy loads of things. Then when the store reopens they buy more than they originally would have....

Tesco wouldn't do that because their stores were closed for hours, Doing more damage than good.

Not been a good year publicity wise has it now? I know the "all publicity is good publicity", but this, the petrol contamination and the alleged bullying of suppliers, not good.

For me, i very rarely shop there. I know they're almost all as bad as each other but it worries me they're taking over the world with electrical, financial and other services; i just wanted a supermarket to sell groceries

Don't forget the deli-counter expose on tv a few months ago...

Like you say though, despite all the negative publicity, you can bet their profit margins will be up yet again this year. Anyone seen the sketch (I think it was in Armando Iannucci show) where Tesco starts a war?
