could be the end of an era

The production of the next James Bond film has been suspended "indefinitely" because of uncertainty over the future of film company MGM, producers say.

Bloody Pirates :pirate:

I'm glad. I hate James Bond fims.
#4
latest bonds have been all special effects and no plot anyway.
#5
Good crap premise for a film anyway, the most famous secret agent in the world, everywhere he goes everybody knows who he is!.

The only bond film I ever watched all the way through was goldeneye and that was only to see if the levels on my n64 game where the same as the film.:-D

This probably explains why only 11 films released on blu-ray, not the full set
#7
its been up in the air for little while with the actual writer of the script quitting because of mendes being announced as the director........

or did i miss something

isnt Daniel Craig meant to be doing another 3 films anyway?

Surprises me that they're at the mercy of the production company. You would think they'd have a more solid handle on their brand.

"...Craig is the sixth actor to play the British secret agent on the big screen, after Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan..."

...and David Niven.

says he appeared in a satirical spoof film called Casino Royale...

ok technically it was on the big screen but he was not in the franchise of films as we know it. I had to google him so for that reason he isnt a real bond lol

Kind Regards

Haven't heard of David Niven?

Oh dear. Is that a sign of your age, or mine? :)

maybe the age difference :p

When I googled him I did recognise his face said he was in the Pink Panther I've never seen those films, I don't watch many old films so when I look at his filmography and see films spanning from the 30's through to the 80's makes me realise why I don't know him!

Ford Prefect (Wikipedia/Google that character if you must) as portayed by Mos Def I thought was an odd choice, but James Bond is half-Scots/half-Swiss so why not?

Will Smith is busy with "Bad Boys 3" & "Men in Black 3-D" anyway.

Peter Sellers was in both Niven's "Casino Royale" & (earlier) "The Pink Panther" movies.

You need to watch these... and "The Party".

PS. Interesting quote from Lewis Collins (...:) never mind...) about his audition as a potential 007:
---
After auditioning for the role of James Bond: It would be nice to get back to the original Bond, not the character created by Sean Connery - but the one from the books. He's not over-handsome, over-tall. He's about my age and has got my attitudes... I was in Cubby Broccoli's office for five minutes, but it was really over for me in seconds. I have heard since that he doesn't like me. That's unfair. He's expecting another Connery to walk through the door and there are few of them around. I think he's really shut the door on me. He found me too aggressive. I knew it all -- that kind of attitude. Two or three years ago that would be the case, purely because I was nervous and defensive. I felt they were playing the producer bit with fat cigars. When someone walks into their office for the most popular film job in the world, a little actor is bound to put on a few airs. If Cubby couldn't see I was being self-protective I don't have faith in his judgment.

Just my idea of a Bond figure is that he would be white (no race hate)

I like many films from the early 1920s onwards. Doesn't make me 90 years old though :)

For the record, yes, I also think the character of James Bond should be as portrayed in the original books. "Books"... you've heard of them, right? ;)

I was looking forward to bond in 3D too, if the production team get their creative juices flowing they could exploit it really well within the stayed format.

If the franchise goes up for sale I'm sure there will be no end of offers to buy it... and Daniel Craig's contract as well.

I have not read a (fiction) book for almost 25 years! I do like watching movies though :)

Sad to think that in a few generations time you will have to visit the Library of Google to appreciate anything in the written form.

At least you'll know what Google is when that time comes!

The Bond brand is hardly going to disappear. The only thing is question is the future of MGM and I doubt that really matters to a single HUKD member.
