Booked a hotel via hotels.com late friday night.
Booked via a debit card.
Then my partner went into a shop and the card was declined, then went into the bank and they said 2 amounts of the same amount the hotel cost had gone out of her account, and the account was in the negative.
The woman in the bank said: This is a common thing with hotels, when you book online, that they take that amount of money and hold it, and release it once the other money has gone through?
She also said that it normally gets released in 24 hours.
Surely that cannot be allowed?
So since then, i have range the company and said what is going on? They only see 1 booking on their system.
Is this a common thing?
As atm, she has no money at all to do anything.
