OK a bit of a 'newbie' question...

I usually only use boots for a sarnie @ lunch time - but I've seen the Dora Desk thing that will be ideal for my niece - that and some bits for holiday etc - makes me think I should be collecting these points n stuff...

So... If I don't have a physical card - how does it work online....

And is there much point in collecting the points -what do u actually get?

You need a card to collect points- the registration page says
"If you do not have your Boots Advantage Card number handy now, you can enter it another time in the 'My account' section of boots.com but you will not receive any points when you shop on the site until you have done this. "

If you pick up an application form in store it will have an instant Advantage Card attached to the front.

You can use this Card to collect points when you shop in store and on-line whilst you wait for your Permanent Advantage Card to arrive.

To use your instant Advantage Card on-line you'll need to enter the number (that starts with a "T" on the back of your Card) when you register with www.boots.com

Buying at boots online is a good idea as you often get bonus points (ie. 750 points with a £40 spend)

One point is worth a penny, you get four points for every £1 you spend. There are often triple points weekends, where you'll earn 12 points per £1. Boots advantage card is one of the most rewarding loyalty schemes there is, even if you are only buying sarnies, you might aswell sign up- I do my Christmas shopping on Boots.com and last year ended up with 8500 points (£85) through bonuses and triple points etc.

If you shop at boots.com, you can also go through Quidco and get 3.5% cash back.

So would you get 2 or 3 points for a meal deal as its £2.99.

I used to get the meal deal most wednesdays so I suppose it would add up!

4 points per £1 normally = so you'd get 11 points / 11p
(it'd be 12pts if you spent £3)

If it's a Triple points promo you'd get 33points / 33p.

11pts x 52 Wednesdays in the year = £5.72 just on your sandwiches.

Also, if you put your card in the advantage point instore, you might get bonus points coupons- there was a 50pts when buying a meal deal recently...
