Life was great when all my kids were little but now they all have moved out or are at college, apart from youngest who is 12, but although ive plenty of hobbies to keep me busy I feel like my lifes ebbing away and im not going anywhere. Im disabled and cant work, my partner stays at home to look after me, hes also partly disabled, but I feel we,re in a rut, every days the same, we cant afford holidays and we never go out as we have no transport and taxis cost too much. Im usually such an optimist but lately im beginning to think whats the point. He spends all day on his pc and then falls asleep, I dont want this for the rest of my life, any ideas?

Jas, sorry to hear you are feeling a bit down...Sounds like a bit of depression. I think life is/can be like that for a lot of people, myself included. Personally, I just try to live in the here and now, and enjoy what I do when I do it. "LIFE" does put a lot of pressure on us to be a certain way, or have certain things, but it is not "REAL". I think it is just an illusion to keep us away from our "TRUE" selves. When I am in this mode, I think of tribes and people I have seen on TV or read about that don't have the "life and pressures" that we have, but they are happier, more content, so I try to let myself just be, smile, be thankful and grateful for what I have. Easy to say, yes, but can also be easy to do if you take control of your mind and your life, and fill it with the things that you like and love. There for but the grace of God go I.

Sorry you're feeling down I hope things brighten up for you soon. I've been in that place and i am not disabled. I suggest you try an Alpha course many local churches run them and you can ask all the questions you want to without feeling pressured . It changed my life i haven't looked back since. You've got nothing to lose.

ps I love Lilac the colour and the smell of it too !

Do you have a support group where you live? Or a facility like disabled community taxi's like they have here where they collect you and drop you off at your door so you can go up town and other places so you can get out a bit more? Here it's heavily subsidised and even free depending on income etc.......contact your local council and ask what services they provide. :)

Failing that, how about friends or family, if they could give you a lift out 1 day a week it would all help. :)

Hope you get something sorted and feel better soon. :)

have you checked you are claiming all you are entitled to? if you have more £ you can pay for taxis to get out. Also things like the cinema your o/h will get in free as a carer..or if he isnt interested take a friend? try one night a week to start off?

A course together at the local Adult College (they are usually free)? Nothing like stimulating your brain to make life positive - and to have an intellectual topic to share thoughts about is VERY healthy for a relationship. It should be something new to you both...

Why not do competitions?
There are plenty competition sites online and you might even win a holiday somewhere.
I have recently won a £500 shed and £503.25 cash. Well, it was a cheque really.
Try http://www.bananalotto.co.uk and http://www.itv.com/BingoNightLive

Both free to play.
Go on...Good luck :-)

thanks for all your advice, I certainly feel better knowing im not alone, i think everything always seems worse in the middle of the night when everyones asleep except you, I think the main reason ive been feeling down is my second oldest son was in a car crash 3 years ago, its left him seriously brain damaged and progress is very slow, and my 16 yr, nearly 17 yr old daughter wants to leave home, she wants to live with a friend she met on line because he lives near her boyfriend in hull, we're in Lancashire, ive told her she cant so shes gone for 2 weeks, staying a week with her boyfriend and his family and then going to stay with this lad, ive told her im not happy about it and im worried about her but shes decided to go anyway, so i think things are just getting to me a bit. I think it gets harder as they get older.
About the travelling consessions, its weird over here they give you vouchers to use with the taxis BUT to get them you have to be over 50, which im not yet lol, and NOT in reciept of mobility benefits but have trouble walking or carrying shopping, hows that for weird?
Theres another problem as well up till the end of July I was getting social fund grants to pay for taxis to visit my son once a week, its a £32 round trip, anyway last time I put in I was turned down, simply because they had run out of money and that wasnt classed as an essential, so ive been having to find the £32 a week myself, and were struggling as it is but i wont stop visiting even if I have to sell everything I own, anyway I appealed got turned down and have appealed again but havent heard back, they lost my first appeal so i hope they havent lost this one. So I think everythings just added up and got the better of me, thanks for all your support.
X-Factors out neither of us have any talent lol, I do write stories though, only for my own enjoyment though, and I do competitions and crafts so im always busy. Ive entered comps for years and won a lot of things over the years. Sorry this post is so long but i felt i ought to explain as im not just down for no reason, although i do feel better today than i did last night.

and DLA??? even the low level would be a help?

when you re-apply for DLA or INCAPACITY benefits, if you are turned down go to citizens advice, they will take you through an appeal & you could win,its what you are entitled to.
