well if your bored, you shouldn't stick should you?

Having said that, you're at the top, so its downhill whichever way you go.

I got rid of my xbox and regretted it in less than a month, we are now back together and happy as ever.

Don't bother with a Wii. Very boring.
#4
thanks for answers so far. I am still steering towards a ps3 unless i get convinced otherwise. If i keep the 360 in the end i will need some new games to spark back some life into the console
#5
yep if you got bored with a 360 then 2 mins of bowling will be as much fun as you'll get with a wii so stay clear. If you really have to then your only option is a ps3.

What games do you have? maybe some people could tell you which games really inject life into the 360

xbox vs ps3 battle no. 2354 is about to begin lol
ps3 is the way forward
wii is good for about a week
xbox is fine till it breaks which it defo will

but as you have a xbox already might aswell stay with it save some money but if you can afford defo get a ps3
#8
Keep the 360 and get a PS3 as well.

Enough exclusives on both to justify the cost. If you are bored of the 360 try buying some new games or getting online (if you aren't already). As far as the 360 breaking i've heard tons of people with failing PS3 disc drives on the various forums.

lol the only reason really to get a ps3 is for the blu ray .......as most of the games what are out on xbox are out on ps3...so virtually the same imo
#10
wanna buy my wii?...
#11
my OH has had all, he said PS3 was the best for him.

We had a wii, graphics are rubbish, and it gets boring pointing at the tv
#12
STOPPPPPPPP.

How can you be bored of the console itself? You can only be bored of the games you are playing. What games are you currently playing/do you have?
#13
I have a wii, and think it's great. Some geames are coming out this summer, that do look good for it.

To me if you bored of your 360, ps3 wont take too long. Wii is not the best, but for entertainment value and for between your 360, it's a different kind of console all together.
#14
okay i have cod4, fifa 09, lotr conquest, bioshock, gta4, guitar hero world tour with guitar and a few others. It has just sprung to me that i could get my 360 modded so i can get lots of games at a lower price..
also just to confirm yes i am on live.

wii is ok as a party system but not much more, even tho i hooked up a harddrive an load games with the usb launcher

ps3 is expensive, its good for a media player but as for games you have a 360 that has all the decent games ps3 has apart from mgs2 and little big planet oh and killzone 2, but £300 to play blue ray and the 3 exclusives dont seem worth it

i would just stick with the 360 and get some different games for it
#18
Speaking as someone who is cool enough to own every console, may I say that the PS3, unless you plan on spending all your time drooling over slightly nicer graphics, is not worth the money.

As a gaming machine, the Xbox 360 is so much better. The wii is fun if there's a lot of you, but it will get boring very quickly. The 360 has a lot of games and as you said, you could always get it flashed so you could try games before you buy them.

If you haven't tried them, get Gears of War 1 and 2, Halo 3, and Mirrors Edge. All fun games. :)

However, whatever you decide to get, I'm happy to recommend something.

As for the tired old "well the 360 breaks" argument... I have simply 3 words for those people: 3 year warranty! :)

I would go for a ps3, I've played both, PS3 is the superior machine, PS3 has free online, wireless built in, great controllers, can be modified easily, no points on PSN required, BLU-RAYS of course and more....

Plus its so much cooler than an xbox 360:p
#22
get more games,,you will have same problem with ps3,both as good as each other so no point spending more money to get bored again.,wii well only played at a mates,,seem alright but could get bored easy i think.

what games you into??

So you're bored of the 360 while playing games that are all multi-format?

PS3 online is buggy as hell and is only an issue if your friends have PS3's.

The wireless drops out all the time.

I much prefer 360 controllers for everything except fighting games and the PS3's usb charging cable is way to short, also the fact you must have the PS3 turned on to charge is annoying as hell.

Granted Linux and larger HDD are useful if you need them.

PSN requires a minimum £5 to put money in your 'wallet' so is pretty much the same as 'points'.

You can rent Hi Def films on Xbox live now (granted not as good as BD but is useful).

I own both systems and think they both have good points. The Xbox does amazing software while Sony does great hardware. The 360 is a better 'gaming' system but the PS3 has enough exclusives and cheap platinum games that there is no excuse not to get both if you can. Also the PS3 is the best BD player you can get for the price.

I have all the consoles the wii gets played on once in a sheffield flood, the xbox 360 is becoming more redundant by the day as my xbox live membership has just ran out and I dont want to pay for it when I can play my ps3 all day and night online for free!!!, the ds is ok for a quick play around but if you are into online gaming you will soon miss the thrills that online gaming gives you. Look just keep you xbox 360 and get a ps3 so you will never be bored again, problem solved.
#28
okay still considering a ps3 and yes i got gears of war 2 and halo3 forget to mention them. But atm i am probably gonna get 360 flashed and then see where i go from there.

Anybody know how much it will cost to get flashed and anyone that can do it in and around Loughborough (leicestershire/east midlands)
#29
I have all 3 and PS3 is the best bcause it has BD! Wii is rubbish even with the free games i never play it :) Same with 360 and PSP :)

bump guys
#31
Get it flashed, go from there. Better than playing £280 for a console that you may not play. :]

Pray tell , how can a PS3 be moddified?
If you mean by installing Linux on it, then that is next to useless!!!
So far I have found no reason to own a PS3, if I want to watch BD quality films, I'll just d/l a BD rip @ 1080p and watch it over Tversity on the 360.
Only 1 game I want to play on PS3 that is exclusive, LBP, and even that is coming to PSP this year, so wont have to worry about it then.

I think if i got my 360 before my ps3 first i might have liked it more but when i got my 360 i just missed the speed of the ps3 and all the extra features

okay think about all the stuff the 360 can do then just add all this and you got a ps3

built in wi-fi

sixaxis (wii style controll)

no power "brick"

free online

looks

slot in ANY sata 2.5 hardrive (up to 750GB i think)

no overheating

almost silent (no fan noise)

BD = 50gb DVD = 8.5GB (very hard to fit large complex games on 360)

XBL is p2p (same as limewire lol)

HD-DVD's are dead as a dodo

hdmi as standard

optical out standard

YDL (linux, i have firefox and vlc etc running perfect its better than my brothers desktop!)

plays more media filetypes

better cpu

also I would just love to see you stream a real lossless 1080p res file with hd sound, because i cant on my 360 (also using Tversity)

meh.
i could go on and on... but you get the idea

I think if i got my 360 before my ps3 first i might have liked it more but when i got my 360 i just missed the speed of the ps3 and all the extra features

built in wi-fi - nice feature, but doesnt make the games play any better

sixaxis (wii style controll) - another nice feature, bit pointless though

no power "brick" - bad when your psu goes tits up, good the rest of the time

free online - got one there

looks - subjective - i think it looks crap

slot in ANY sata 2.5 hardrive (up to 750GB i think) - got another one

no overheating - not a problem with the 360, unless you block the fans

almost silent (no fan noise) - still audiable, but a lot quieter than the 360, but still doesnt make the games play any better

BD = 50gb DVD = 8.5GB (very hard to fit large complex games on 360) - lol on this point... can hold more data, but hasnt made much impact on the quality of the games has it

XBL is p2p (same as limewire lol) - also same as psn

HD-DVD's are dead as a dodo - dead but irrelevant

hdmi as standard - just like 360's

optical out standard - optional on 360

YDL (linux, i have firefox and vlc etc running perfect its better than my brothers desktop!) - yay

plays more media filetypes - like 2 more?

better cpu - would say another +1 but it hasnt really done anything the 360 cpu cant do.

also I would just love to see you stream a real lossless 1080p video file with hd sound, because i cant on my 360 (also using Tversity) - that makes 3?

meh.

That's all very nice. It's just a shame then that it doesn't really have as good games as the 360, and is a lot more money - especially for the OP as he already owns a 360. Also, the OP is only playing bloomin' multiformat games, so it is irrelevant which console he has...

so gears of war 2 and halo 3 are multiformat
