Bought a phone on eBay.....

....When it came the battery water spot showed that the phone had been water damaged, and when i switch it on I get a white screen. So I messaged the person saying that. They said it has never been water damaged, and that battery is from another phone.

So I put a claim in against them on Paypal which they haven't accepted. He's told me to open the phone and see if the ribbon has came lose. When I've opened it there is condensation on the screen.

I've escualted the claim. What will happen next if he regects the claim again?

Thanks

True, but you'll probably have to pay to return it at your expense unless you can persuade the seller to refund that as well, he is not obliged to give you return postage fees even if it is hi fault you are returning it.

If he rejects the claim you can ask Paypal to escalate it and they will read both sides of the story and come to a conclusion. You will probably just have to return the phone and get a full refund for initial phone & postage costs, but not return postage. If he is a good seller he will refund the postage too, but lots of rubbish sellers out there, but you can neg him if he leaves you out of pocket.

Edit: If you do return it make sure that you send it by either recorded or special delivery as you will need proof of receipt for paypal, proof of postage is not enough.

Thank you.

I don't mind losing out on return postage. Just gutted as it's for my Sons birthday tomorrow and feel as if I've been lied to.

What if once I send it back he doesn't send the money back? Can I out the tracking number into paypal?

Aww, that's pants, I hope he has a great birthday anyway.
Paypal will help you deal with it and you might need to enter the tracking number into paypal, I have been lucky and not had to raise a dispute in a very long time so I can't remember exactly what to do, but I know that even if the seller does not cooperate and reply then paypal will just deal with it and should refund you (on rare occasions it has been known for paypal not to refund due to no funds in the seller's account, but I'm not sure if that is still the case, that was when I had an issue several years ago and I got the money back in the end).
Good luck, don't fret and enjoy your son's birthday :)

Thanks sickly sweet. Nice to get advice and not agro or anything.
Just have to wait and see what happens. I've ordered him a new phone from tesco, should have just done that in the first place lol.

I know there is a help section but thought I'd ask on here as other people have been through the same thing.

No problem, it's horrible when things like this happen, it's the disappointment and hassle which are annoying and get to you, especially so close to an important thing like your son's birthday.
Tescos will come up trumps and he'll get a new phone so I guess you'll have a very happy boy!
Just follow what Paypal say, it should be easy and clear, but I'm almost certain you will be asked to return it for a refund, just make sure you send it with a proof of signature required method and you shouldn't have a problem.
