He's a lovely dog good as gold and so relaxed and friendly...How many walks does the average dog have in a day?

When we had our dog, a good hr early morning, an hr in afternoon, and 2hrs in evening. Do you have a good sized back garden?

No not really that big but i'd rather he got a proper walk not just let out in garden

Going to be some holes in your garden soon, terriers love a dig.
#11
Thats why i asked. If you've got a massive garden great, but our garden was tiny, thats why the long walks. You had dogs before?

What breed did you have? If I walked my mini schnauzer four hours every day I think after a few days she would just sit down and refuse. Some dogs do need lots of exercise though, but remember that mental exercise is just as important. Lots of games with jimi. Ours likes it if w through kibble in long grass, she spend ages looking for it

Nice that you've gave a dog a home, If only more people would do the same.

will depend on how old he is?? if young or not used to walks you will have to build it up slowly, 20 mins in the morning and another 20 mins in the eve, you can build the time up as he gets used to it, well done for getting a rescue, so many out there :|

He's 12-18 month according to the place we got him from

well done to charity and op

Awww sorry to hear that, worry about my cat when she goes out. You'll have so much fun with Jimi, cats are so independant, they'll do their own thing (mine does until she wants summat) a dog becomes your best buddy :)

I hope that he will fit in well and that you all enjoy your new addition.

Different dogs need different exercise regimes - age, breed, previous history , health, joints and just the individual dog itself all matter. I would say to find out as much as you can about all of those and then see how you get on with what you decide is good for you and your dog.

Our golden retriever has an hour a day walk and play in the garden.

Have a good time!

Gorgeous little thing.
I have rehomed two dogs from Wood Green Animal shelter and I would always choose to rescue a pooch from somewhere like that :-)

Gorgeous dog <3 Well done you getting a rescue dog :)

I have always had dogs and think rescue dogs really are the best. You get the satisfaction of giving a good home to a dog who really needs it. Seeing how they thrive once you get them home is an incredible feeling. Also exciting not knowing exactly how they are going to grow up if you get a cross breed puppy.
So happy you posted and shared your news about your new pet. I hope he continues to be good for you ;) Jimi is a great name :)

Omg, I just scrolled through the dogs on the site where you found Jimi. There is a 5 month old pup there whose owners wanted to put him down because he was "too lively". Hope they never have children oO

Unbelievable! Why do people like that get pets? Wouldn't it be good if some more of their dogs found homes because you put the link on hukd? :)

Add to what others have said, you really have done a fab thing by getting a rescue dog, they're the best dogs I've known.
