Bought an item from a seller and no refund?

Could anyone advise me please

Bought an item of a seller on here, he sent me the monitor i paid for, and the monitor arrived damaged.

Helped the seller get pictures of the packaging ect so he could send to the courier and do a claim

I originally asked the seller for a refund but he told me he had no money to refund me.

This was at least 3/4 months ago, asked a mod for help and he said they couldn't do much? i'm not sure why there saying they can't do much when ive been left out of pocket for a damaged monitor and had no refund, to say i'm fuming is an understatement,

Would appreciate if anyone could advise, ta.

What exactly do you expect the mods to do?

Its made blatantly clear when you sign up, and within the For Sale board help and rules threads that you and the buyer/seller are responsible for the sale.

There is no protection here. It is no different to you doing a deal with someone in the street really. Its private selling and HUKDs by law cannot just hand out peoples details.

If you have followed the rules, then you will have his name and number, and possibly an address. If thats the case, you have all the details you need to sort it out private - by whatever means you wish.

As for fuming at the mods... good luck with that one

Why so long? Not sure what you expect the mods to do tbh. Whatever they COULD do ie, ban the member isn't going to get your money back.
I understand you're fuming but I think you're only going to make yourself worse if you persue it further. It's obvious that after 3 months the seller isn't going to refund you.

_Darren_, if you could send the relevant information into Admin via the 'contact us' link they can advise further.

Unfortunately the id you bought the item from is currently banned as multi users are not allowed in FS/T.

Think that may be my next step.

Just thought HUKD would provide more support.

Ive got no address for him ect as ive deleted my pm's but i'm sure other members will have his address ect.

I must have pm'd him about 10 times, and he replies every now and then but with no refund.

_Darren_ we do advise members to get contact details off a seller & we will help as far as possible, but when engaging in a trade the main responsibility for ensuring that you obtain these details lies with the parties involved for this very reason - should a problem arise you should have the sellers address, telephone number & other relevant contact details. We can offer the advice but members must then follow it.

The FS/T trading advice is linked at the top of every FS/T page in a red banner :

FS/FT - Trade safe! Follow these guidelines!

Caveat Emptor. Do NOT proceed with a deal until you are completely satisfied with all details being correct. It's in your best interest to check out these details yourself. This forum is equivalent to a newspaper's classified section, HotUKDeals is not responsible for and does not vouch for any listings or sales/trades in this forum! Use your head, follow the guidelines, evaluate the risk and make your own decision.
