The "Fat Princess: Fistful of Cake" title will have detected you are running custom firmware [5.50] (not the official Sony system software) & will be blocking access.

Have you tried any other (older, pre-2009) game titles that use the Wi-Fi connection?

Have you tried connecting to the PlayStation Network on the console?

Is there an update to the official firmware on the Universal Media Disc? I suspect the game will expect at least version 6.00 to be installed, probably 6.20 or higher.

I have not tried the game yet, i just went to network settings to put my network settings in and that message appeared when i press scan. I tried putting the game in now and it says nothing and lets me straight through. I think custom fw is made to prevent it.

It's the other way around, lack of official ofw prevents use of the PSN... I can't access it on my 2003 but I can on my pspgo as I'm running ofw on my go...

Sorry, I thought you were implying you had already tried the game disc.

Which ("community" group's) Custom Firmware is installed? (check your System Settings menu)

Pretty much yeah...

its 5.50 GEN-D3

Mine's the same, it won't connect either. It's because sony has resticted access to the PSN on firmware less than 6.20 and as there's no CFW for 6.20 it's knacked...

You have two choices really, upgrade to 6.20 and lose CFW functionality or stay on 5.50 GEN-D3 and lost the online functionailty of the console (hence why I have two...)

does the wifi work though e.g. can you connect it to a wifi router. Not talking about playing online PSN.

Do you have access to a PS3 console?

Can you set-up Remote Play with your PSP (using a USB cable) & then see if the Wi-Fi connection works linking to the PS3 (when you remove the cable)?

You'll not be able to connect to the PlayStation Network but it may establish if the actual hardware is faulty or the presence of the non-official firmware is causing the problem.

Nope dont have access to a PS3 :/ I have spoken to jjmanford and he believes it may be something wrong with the wifi chip, so will be returning.

OK. Good community spirit there. Not that it helps understand what the problem is, or why it occurred, but a result for you.
