I'd have to say Bournemouth as so much for both ages!Poole is lovely & you can also pop to Paultons Park for day kids would love it :).Upton Park is great in Poole recommend that & Moors Valley.Of course the beach & Bournemouth Gardens!Love it there. Can't say much re Southampton apart from nice shopping centre, but hopefully someone from there will say more!

I'd say:

Bath
Poole
Bournemouth
Southampton

In order of preference of places around the south. I know the first two aren't on your list but might be worth a look into :)

easter weekend in Bournemouth will be busy, esp if the weather is good, Book early if you are staying in a b&b or Travelodge. If you want I can nip into my local tourist info place & pick you up some leaflets, what to do etc.

Magicbeans if i were you Id go to portsmouth and hop across to the isle of wight. Kids will love the amusements in southsea and the hovercraft across and the isle of wight has some beautiful sights for the adults and beaches for the kids.

Really good suggestion.

Also do as richp sugests and get some leaflets from the tourist information centre as they will more than likely have discount vouchers in some of the leaflets. You can also pick them up on the ferry.

We love Poole and if it's a nice weekend Sandbanks beach is very hard to beat.

If you go to some parts of Poole you may go home with no wheels on your car

Id say New Milton, if you count all the coast - well Barton on sea anyway.

Have you thought about Sandy Balls??

steer clear of s'ton. Only one step up from portsmouth! Bournemouth is nice although very hilly.

Come to sunny Bournemouth MB. You know you wanna!

Easter will be busier but that's not a bad thing as there will be loads going on for all your family.

And my missus said to tell you the shops are good as well.
