I picked up some 1 million aftershave gift set for £26 from boots but other than that it's been pretty poor. I guess it's because retailers have been discounting stuff pre Xmas

The worse Boxing Day sales in history. You can't even say Boxing Day sales are a thing any more. I remember when I was a kid (20 years ago) Boxing Day was massive for sales and the whole family trundled off to Liverpool. Useless...

Just stayed in a had the usual well over-the-top, 50 million adverts for designer perfume and aftershaves burned in to my retinas. :(

Got to agree, sales pretty poor this year, used to be good but now a load of old tat..
#7
I agree. No decent deals.

Seriously does anyone actually need anything, I don't think I've ever bought anything in boxing day sales, I have just got a load of new tat and have just spent money on buying tat for others, why would I want to go out immediately after exchanging tat to buy more?

You have mentioned buying downloadable games for the Wii U a number of times in the last day or so.

You don't have to spend anything, as nobody actually needs anything.

You might like buying tat but not everybody does!

My oldest two boys love clothes so quite happily went shopping yesterday to spend their Christmas money. Managed to get a few good deals which is great and certainly not tat!

When I'm buying Christmas presents for people I actually put some thought into the gift and don't just buy tat for the sake of it!

I managed to get a few good clothes bargains yesterday as did my two teens. Other than that I haven't really paid too much attention to the sales really.

seeing as its 500 points to get a voucher and I'm only 72 short I may as well finish the job, not that it matters anyway as they are downloads not physical objects to clog up the place

Maybe so but not everyone will be buying pointless tat from Selfridges. Even if they are though I don't know why it bothers you so much! If someone has the money to buy designer handbags then fair enough!

Some folks like designer bags and can afford them, others like 3 gift bags for £1 to put their Christmas tat in-again each to their own!

If you can't or don't want to go to the sales then that's your shout, but being jealous of others spending money isn't nice Error (_;)

There is a small car dealer round the corner from me who has a beautiful car(to me anyway) for sale. Was hoping it would also be included in the Boxing Day 50% off as I would be straight round!! I can dream i suppose lol X)

If you mention the dealer's name, you may find a bigger discount coming your way! ;)

Retailers love the boxing day "sale" - they hardly have to reduce prices yet thousands of people flock to the stores seeking discounted prices.

All they have to do is stick a few posters up saying boxing day sale, knock 10% off the odd item here and there (old stock that hasnt sold) and its like free advertising.
its been poor for a few years now. January sales are very much the same. Black friday (because its a *relatively* new thing) still actually does have genuine bargains, but i bet it wont go on every year to be as good i bet.

I bought a few things in their sale online on Christmas eve as can also use student discount online.

Attempted to go yesterday but couldn't get near the shop. Today took us 25 mins just to get near the car park but managed to get loads.

Scotland's a big place remember ;) Edinburgh is heaving, absolutely chock a block as is everywhere I suppose!

I wouldn't go hunting for stuff with 10% off,it's not worth the hassle!
I keep my eye on things and if it's then 50% off I grab it. There are deals out there to be had.
