Boys school shorts - anyone seen longer ones?

Sounds odd I know - but I don't like the shorts that sit on/just above the knee, anyone seen slightly longer ones that are like calf length?

My son is 6 and needs grey bottoms for school. I lkie the shorts with cargo pockets but would just prefer longer length.

Thank yous x

Thought school uniform was strict for one reason, to stop kids customising their looks. I like the way you've put 'I', what does your son think on you making him look different to all the other kids?

had some cargo style ones in Matalan but did not notice if they were longer than the ones with out pockets might be worth a check on the web site

Might have to give them a go, thanks - was worried that they might just look too baggy is I get a bigger size all round, might just stick with trousers :)

Strict in what way - that shorts should be knee-length? I hadn't considered that, tbh. My son is 5 so I don't think he minds me choosing his clothes for him.
Apart from the fact that I can't can't get this look out of my head, my son manages to fall over at least twice a week so I would rather his knee weren't so exposed :)

Kids have been wearing normal school shorts for decades with no issues. Let them get grazed knees, picking scabs is what being a young boy is all about.

Or normal trousers and take them right up?

Whilst 3/4 might be a good look on summer trousers for boys i think in the dark material of school shortsrs you might find it looks really odd. It will simply look like his trousers are too short.

All to protect the knees of young boys. Why don't they go further and put knee and elbow pads on them or just not let them go out at all and school them from home where they can have soft furnishing and big fluffy carpets all over.

I didn't think about carpet burns, obviously a full risk assessment would need to be carried out.

I don't think my knees ever healed until I was a teenager, they were permanently scabbed over.

Wow,people really do get opinionated about me not wanting my sons knees hurt!!Actually,he doesn't want to wear shorts either...He is an end of August 'baby' in Reception. The school is a small victorian one, with a mostly concrete playground with slopes and steps. They also share the playground with year six.
I asked for suggestions on where to buy longer shorts that cover his knees, not for sarcastic comments from people who have nothing better to do than suggest knee pads,or fluffy carpets,or even keeping my child at home.
And now that I have calmed down, thank you very much for the useful recommendations.

Hi,

Did you have any luck with longer shorts? I'm really interested in some for my son who's in reception. He has an inherited skin condition which is on his knees, ankles and elbows and can't expose them but wants to wear shorts like his classmates.

Much thanks.
