Brand new Range Rover Stolen

A friend of mine has just had his new Range Rover stolen at gunpoint in London. He is offering a large reward to have it returned, safely or not. It was on it's was to have tracker put on it when two guys jumped him in heavy traffic in London.

It is a Black Vouge like this one

http://www.overfinch.com/www/media_items/FIT/430/430/ns_image_RangeRover440_001.jpg

Not really any different on the outside from any other Vouge running around but one thing that is different is the badge on the back and front -

The number plate that was on it has been found a short distance away so it will have new plates on it now and hopefully it will still be in this Country.

Any news, sightings or photographs you can supply to the recovery of this will lead to your reward as it has a very unique chassis number on it.

Thanks

Spot on Chaos! Was it bought from a dealer? As how many people would know it didnt have a tracker? The mate, the sellers and erm possibly the thieves!!Catch my drift maybe? either that or it was a VERY big coincidence!
Hope your mates ok , at gun point he must be quiet shook up.
Hope by some miracle he gets it back. Best Wishes

omg sorry to hear this but unfortunately it will probably out of the country
Will insurance pay for it?

And the Range Rover can fit a tracker when you buy it!

It wasn't an inside job, it was just opportunistic, even the cops said that.

We guessed it might be out of the Country now but Customs were alerted at the ports, so maybe it is around London somewhere. I have never seen so many RR's on the road looking for his. It has the chrome side steps, twin exhusts visible on the outside.

There was also 4K in cash in it, his filofax and all the keys and security controls for the house, which have now all been changed, at great expense.

He is gutted, never left the house for the first week and the insurance won't pay out cos it was driven away with the keys, therefore they are saying he allowed someone else to 'borrow it' and they just haven't returned it yet grrrrrrrrr :x

Hmm. Time to go down the legal route and sue the insurers. He has a crime report, there was a gun poked at his face. They didn't "borrow" the car.

Sorry to hear about your mate.Sadly this type of crime is getting all too common.Have a look here:

http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/faq/answers/complaints_a2.html

I know a guy who's roof was badly damaged in a storm. The insurance company sent out an assessor who deemed the damage to be due to 'wear and tear'.He complained to the ombudsman and upon investigation they got the decision overturned and the insurance had to pay him the money he had shelled out for the repair back.Under these circumstances, which would obviously be backed up by police reports I feel he may have a good chance.Good luck and hope they catch the scum who took it.

Seriously? Watching these "Traffic Cops" TV programmes it looks as though most thefts are with the keys these days, as most new cars can't be started without them. People break into houses to get keys, stick poles through letterboxes, etc. Would the insurance company not pay out in this case??!!

The insurance will pay out even with it was taken at a gun point its class at theft no matter how they took it but the will not pay out of the cash that was in it due to that you cant prove that in was in the jeep at the time. plus it will take a bout 3/4 months for the claim to cum thou.

it would be a higher charge than theft because force was used ;-)

Hope the owner is alright.

Thiefing *******s, the vehicle will probably in a container ready to be shipped to Dubai or somewhere like that.

Either that or striped for parts, Doors, Mirrors, Wheels, Interior, Bits off the engine (bits without part numbers) etc etc.

do you think it will be on crime watch?

More likely shipped as the whole vehicle. Dad's mate had a £68,000 Range Rover Sport 2.4litre turbo stolen and it was found on a container shipped ready for Dubai.

but thats risky thats prob why they got caught, stripping it down would make it harder to catch the poeple that did it

They're worth more shipped whole, But people get caught out more often that way.

They can strip a car down within an hour, Everything just gone!!

Yes but the parts are all registered with serial numbers / bar codes. I went to Land Rover in Solihul last year part of my buiness course. And every Land Rover vehicle is built to customers specification, not mass produced like other manufacturers.

yeah they try and edit the codes, but its apparently easy to spot if you know what to look out for.

guess the vehicle could have been used for a robbery

The codes are impressed into the metal if you know what I mean. Can't remember name of process or what its actually called.

Nah, They would steal something alot less obvious and they steal the 4x4 at gun point as that'd alert the cops before they've even started!!

Yeh. ********, was wondering what that was. Was in my graphics exam and I have no idea what it was called.

Yup. Each part is added into the chassis, its all specifically designed for the customers needs. Thats why Land Rover don't make a loss on vehicles, since there built to buy anyway.

Sad to hear this, sounds a little bit iffy to me tho.. New car without tracker and 4k cash, someone had to know. I dont understand how you can know it was oppertunistic too? Not like they will just take it for a joy ride?

Either way, I hope they get caught or mullered or both :p
#37
Don't know to much of what has happened but I know it has not been found yet and they now expect little else but a fight with the insuance company :-(
#38
Probally been shipped to like Dubai.
#39
yep :whistling:

only hope now is to fight with the insurance company. cant believe they didnt believe you. were was it that he was held at gunpoint? any witnesses?
