Hello,

Just got my first car last month, it's an X reg corsa and almost done a 6 figure mileage, makes a few noises here and there especially over humps so I can't say the cars reliable so I'm looking for the best breakdown cover that relates to me and at a cheap price.

I don't drive that often, once a day around the area and rarely go out of town but will be doing a few 100+ miles trips every so often in the year. Apart from that, I'm normally close to my home when driving around unless I've gone to do some shopping at the supermarket.

I've seen a few websites, the expensive but well-known ones such as RAC & AA but I've seen a few others which I've never heard of before so I don't know who they use if I was ever to breakdown.

I'm looking for home start up, fix problems at roadside, recovery to garage and anything that may help.

I'm with Tesco (which is powered by Green Flag) and it works out a lot cheaper than the RAC or AA. Can't remember exactly what I pay but I think I upgraded a package because it was cheaper than the lesser package with one of the other two.

I'm covered for forward travel, so they won't just abandon me at a garage somewhere lol!

Green Flag, go via Quidco. for a huge discount.

They use independent garages in most cases to repair/recover your vehicle.

Try Autonational Rescue.

I'm with First Call - I think its something like £42 for the year for full UK cover.

The cover seems pretty cheap but doesn't include home start too which would make it £100+

This seems pretty good, looks like something I might be interested in, do you know who they use for their callouts? Have you had any experience with them if you've ever required to call them?

Thanks for the replies.

Edit: Just noticed this:
A £40 excess applies for any breakdown occurring either at your home address or within one mile of your home address.

Wouldn't want to pay any extra for assistance near my home address.

Thanks, will have a look on there right now, any companys you can recommend that I could call up to possibly get the cheapest price possible after a little haggling?

Why would you need " Homestart "?, any local garage will get you going if you cannot sort it yourself.
