He was a plonker but this is very bad for F1. If Renault do leave then the grid will look very weird next year. With Lotus, Manor, USF1 and Campos making their debuts, with whoever takes over as renault.

Im hoping the departure of them two fools, will stop the fia from throwing the team out. i don't see why everyone in the team should pay when it was them to that planned it in secret :?

There's talk of Renault pulling out over this too.

And don't forget they currently supply Red Bull with engines.

Yes true, however are red bull not trying to secure Mercedes Engines for next season due to the unreliability of the Renault engines?

I'd expect a similar penalty to that given to McLaren the other year... So disqualification from constructors championship and an unrealistically large fine...

Just imagine if Hamilton hadn't just won it on the last corner last year though - if Alonso's win was removed it would be the difference between Hamilton winning and losing the drivers championship!

Yes, but McLaren and Brawn are objecting to it.

anyone know if USF1 are still trying to get purely american drivers :? bourdais was the best driver in america ad he wasnt even american and look how his F1 career went

F1 has lost it's appeal over the last few seasons.

I enjoy and follow the BTCC now. Much more entertaining.

Well, yeah

Nah seriously though, 3 races on the day, proper overtaking, great drivers, superb tracks and just generally good motorsport.

Must admit, when I used to go to the British GP and they had the touring cars on before the F1 race it was always the most entertaining (especially when it was raining :w00t:)

I think as Briatore and Symonds have gone that Renault won't be kicked out but will be fined and a points deduction. Possibly a suspended ban. FIA don't want to lose Renault but they may pull out anyway because of cost like BMW and Toyota. Can't blame Red Bull for looking else where for their engines !

Don't see how Briatore accused Piquet Jr and Snr of trying to blackmail him as they'd already come out with the facts ! :?

Be good to see Lotus back, used to love the old 70's JPS cars (oops - showing my age) ! :p

I also wonder if now all this has come out the FIA will try and get piquet back into f1 with another drive for another team??

 One of my first thoughts was that they were lucky he didn't mess that up too.

Maybe they could've claimed it was reverse psychology - he crashed when they told him to win....:whistling:

Must be really difficult to crash convincingly. Doubt if we'll see Piquet back in a F1 car anytime soon. More chance of his dad coming back. ;-)
