Why does everyone accept 18 - 24 month contracts as i totally dispise them if everyone who had a contract stood up for themselves and demanded 12 month contract would we get them back ??

Currently on T-mobile 18month contract £25.00 per month 600 mins free text free internet with a samsung galaxy s runs out in August 2011

Please add ur contracts and your opinions

Phones are worth much more than they were
#3
networks subsidise the cost of the phone-its not worth it for them to give you a DECENT phone for 12 months.

"Why does everyone accept 18 - 24 month contracts"
Hypocritical of you considering you accepted an 18 month contract.

I used to have the latest phones on good 12 months contract. . I couldn't bring myself to pay over £1000 pound for a iphone over 24 months contract. .

If everyone stuck together surely we could bring back decent prices and not just to accept paying over the odds for most luxuries in the UK? ?

Signed up for a 24 month contract about 4 months ago. Got a htc wildfire and then sold it for £140.
I pay £20 a month for:
1200 minutes
2000 landline minutes
3000 texts
5000 3-3 calls
1GB internet

Works out just over £15 a month if you take into account the 140 from the phone.

I was paying £13ish a month but spent £15 on minutes outside my usage the month before I was due a upgrade.

Atleast u got a nice phone. . 24 months is far too long i always want a new one or two phones before my contract is up lol

My first 24 month contract was on my HTC Desire.
But for £10 a month I do get
100 minutes
Unlimited Texts
3Gb Internet

This is plenty for me, so I will probably keep the contract going in the future and buy a new phone.

agree 24months is way too long for a mobile contract - its longer than some marriages last ;)

the phone is nice and will do me for a few years i guess, but the new upcomming mobiles like nexus s (out 20th dec) make the desire hd look a bit ancient http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXGfL9bhddc

No I think he paid £200 upfront then got money back via tesco club card (points) plus tesco points every month, yeah some people might think it's a bit much for s phone but by the time the 12 month contract is done if he came to sell it I'm sure he would at the least get the 200 he paid, plus he would have had a top of the range phone for a year :)

It's been said before - phones are worth a lot more nowadays, look back before the iPhone was out and (good) smartphones were few and far beween, but now you have iPhone, Android AND WP7 all making the rounds with more usability and more features.

When virtual reality comes out I will expect 36 month contracts X)

My current contract is 18 months but got bored of my old phone and bought a Desire. So if I'm buying the phone myself, why bother with a contract? Think I'll be going back to PAYG when the contract's out.

If you have a 12 Month contract it will cost a bomb if not the same price overall as a 18 month, and if anything at a loss since everyone else is effectively getting 6months (if 18month) of free tariff. All networks have made it so thats its pointless going for a 12 month since the offers are so bad.

also as said phones are worth more, yonks ago the latest Nokia would only be around £100 or so.

Tho i doubt that it costs anywhere near 400 pound to produce a smart phone like the galaxy or n8 or desire. .. I really wonder how much they are at cost price
To justify the expensive price tag

obviously they dont cost £400 pounds, do you have any concept of economics and building products in order to make a profit...

12 month contracts and normally pretty expensive, I'm locked into a 24 month one myself (BB9700) but works out about 100 odd quid cheaper overall than my bros 12 month contract for iphone4 so is better for my wallet :D

Sold my 3GS for £330 & bought an iPhone 4 for £39, £20 per month for 24 months (unlimited text, unlimited mins & unlimited data). I'm sure I can sell that one at the end of my contract & have another free couple of years of mobile phone usage :)

I would never sign up for an 18-24 month contract.

Had a 12 month contract, now out of that, but have a good deal with 300 minutes a month, 150 texts, 5 quids worth of downloads, 2GB internet all for 10 quid a month. Happy days

#31
I'm on SIM only 12 month with the SF. Refuse to go for a 24m contract. With contracts offering better value every 6 months the networks are laughing at locking in customers for 2 years!
#32
I can understand your choice in contract but please leave the sf out of this I like good smartphones

O2.

This sounds like a good deal! How did you get this deal, and how do I get involved?! : )
