I'll try and find one for you OP because we had serious problems with them last year.

One thing I do know is that if they made a definite appointment and broke it then you are entitled to compensation.

Give me some time to dig out our correspondance.

Whilst I have a look at our stuff to see if there's anything useful have a look and a read of the following web page:

https://www.britishgas.co.uk/complaint

It may be that this would be the route I would recommend anyway.

Some important things to remember with BG.
1. Always ask for the name of the person you are dealing with
2. Write everything down including times and names
3. You will never get through to the same person again so don't try.
4. Always keep it polite and if possible with humour, that way the operative is more likely to help you.
5. Try to get them to phone you back but be prepared for them to say yes and then never return the call.
edit just noticed they have changed their complaints number to an 0800 number. Better !
Anything else I think of I'll add.

OP go to the following page

https://www.britishgas.co.uk/codesofpractice

Download the pdf "We're listening" from that page.

This will tell you the full complaints procedure and the levels of compensation offered.

That was what I was looking for. If you need any more help then just shout and if I can I will. :)

lol you're welcome paula, doesn't surprise me though it never IS their fault, or so they like to think.

Don't take no for an answer though, make them accountable !!

Hope you get somewhere :)

It's all about the WatchDog.

Tell them if your complaint isn't sucessfully dealt with and providing compensations you will be reporting them to watchdog as their customer service has been pulled up on so many times.

Dear sir, I have been trying to submit my gas and electric meter readings by email and by telephone with no success. The whole set up for submitting readings is a shambles and needs to be made more straight forward. If you want my readings contact me by email or send the meter reader, the whole system for submitting readings at present is a shambles.
