You could be making origami, from a slice of beef pastrami, or having a kick about, with a team of giant trout, while Hive is busy controlling your heating at home.

If this is true, I'm signing up.

It does look good, but the wife is home most of the time - it's effectively the same, I control the heating and hot water by dropping her a text.

You don't need to be with British Gas for it either - but doubt you'd get a reduction like this if you're not.

They have recently updated it with geolocation so you have an option for it to text you and let you know the heating is still on when you've left the house.

One of the main reasons I got it was I was constantly going out leaving the heating on when it wasn't required...that won't happen anymore!

Sounds pretty good. I work for a competitor, waiting to see if we bring our own version out before I take the plunge and do it myself.

Yep, you can get this for a reduced rate on 99 quid if your existing controller breaks down, or you think it is broken.........

am i missing something ? i can program my heating to come on in winter an hour before i come home etc, or control it whist at home or program it to come on and switch off when it gets to and reaches a certain temperature ??? even if i got home and it was cold would only take around 10 mins to get to desired temperature1

That's all well and good if you know exactly what time you are going to be home but I often get home hours after I should. And what do you do if you leave the house for the evening without turning your heating off?

Also, my boiler doesn't have the ability to turn off after it reaches a certain temp!

Granted this system isn't for everyone but seems I didn't even have a room thermostat on my boiler, £99 for a wireless thermostat and the ability to control away from home is pretty good value in my eyes!!!

errr why don't you just buy a normal thermostat? If your boiler cant switch off with that how is the hive going to work it?

Errrrrr because a normal thermostat would have set me back £60+ and that's without having it fitted. And it wouldn't have given me the ability to control it remotely...that's why !

i did work for british gas until friday last week. there are a lot of benefits to Hive, worth it if you have a family of 4 or more and you have kids coming in earlier than you and the missus etc

I don't think they really compare tbh . Non of them are wireless and I require wireless because my boiler is in the attic . Also don't do separate hot water like HIVE does. If you compare a like for like thermostat they are well over £60 on screwfix..... Never heard the term apples for apples!!?

Like I said in my earlier post not for everyone but good value if you already needed a wireless thermostat!!
