British Gas not turning up for scheduled job - compensation?

Anyone help me? I had a new boiler delivered yesterday and British Gas were supposed to be fitting it today and tomorrow. Got a phone call at about 8.50 this morning to say that they are running late due to the previous job and now won't be here until tomorrow and then running into Thursday! Somewhere in the depths of my mind I have a recollection of them awarding compensation for misse dappointments - does anyone know anything about this? Would be very grateful for any help/advice given.

That would not always qualify for loss.

from what i remember you are entitled to £20 for any missed appointment for things to do with the supply, but as this is homecare I don't think you are entitled to anything.
Obviously if you have suffered actual loss then you can try to get something out of them, but thats far from guaranteed.

WTF are you getting BG to do the job for, a smaller company would probably do it for half the price!

I got £80 per appointment for ttwo missed appointments not that long ago.

I didn't even ask for it, a letter just arrived (twice!) in the post "sorry we missed your appointment here's £80"

Just cancel the installation and go with a local plumber and enjoy the £2000 saved.

And maybe the OP has to take an extra day off work and will genuinely lose £50 because British Gas messed him about. Why should he lose money for something thats not his fault?

They didn't even bother telling him till 8.50am on the day they were supposed to be there, so not as if days off work could have been rearranged
