Did They Actually Give You The New Rates Hun, Or Just Say There Going Up By That Much, As Yet No Switch Sites Giving New Rate
banned#3
I am referring to tier 2 rates

Yesterday:-

Gas tier 2 = 2.504p per kwh
Electric tier 2 = 7.431p per kwh

Today:-

Gas tier 2 = 3.606p per kwh
Electric tier 2 = 11.163p per kwh

click is still showing as cheapest for me, can you not hold out till the stitch sites have updated their new tariffs, before cancelling, maybe still cheaper

i think bg was wanna the last ones to do this, so as soon as everything is updated then its gonna be a level playing field when working out your switch
#7
they only went up a month or so ago?

I've literally just got a letter saying that my unit prices are going up as well with e.on. Probably all the suppliers will be doing that now in next few weeks ggrrrr !

The letter begins :

Over the last six months, changes in global energy prices have affected us all more than ever. In fact during this time, the wholesale cost of energy we buy has increased by over 50%. Although we've delayed for as long as we can, we have to increase our prices as a result of these rising costs.

lol, poor things making such huge profits in last 12mths. Prices have affected them but it's the consumer that's paying more ! GGrrrrr. Rant over ;-)

I'm with E.ON how much are they putting their prices up by? :?

cant you do a fix price deal with em, i have Elec and gas fix priced till 2011

Just got the letter & it's dated September, but just noticed the price increases are from 22 August & I'm on the energyonline tariff. Give me a few mins & I'll scan it & post here

EDIT : probably easier to compare before & after prices as unit prices will vary by region. Just checked my last bill dated September & I was actually billed these charges from 22Aug but only informed in writing of increase now ??

Excluding VAT, 22 Aug increase date :

Elec primary was 17.65p , now 24.89p
Elec Secondary was 10.63p, now 10.78p

Gas primary was 4.352p, now 6.219p
Gas secondary was 2.774p now 3.388p

Plus additonal 10% dual fuel discount if paying by monthly direct debit & if you manage account online

So it depends when you were last billed if you've already been charged increase

all the energy suppliers prices went up in the last 2 months should be level playing now

but your saying the prices are going up again? surely not

i signed up for bg through quidco and still awaiting welcome pack, dont wanna ring em coz it will negate the cash back.

not sure what to do just waiting for a bill lol

bg have only put their prices up in line to all the others that went up,, bg click 5 is the last one to go up, this is not another price hile by them they have just been very late in doing it

yep, very true although click energy 6 prices are cheaper than click energy 5.

Anyone know how to switch to click energy 6?

Anyone know BG's billing quarters (for working out usage in each tier by month)

personally, these tier prices make a mockery of cutting back on energy consumption as it becomes overall cheaper per kwh the more gas & electric you use! :w00t:

I just rang BG about my Click Energy 5 prices. The tariff prices are exactly the same as the ones they told me when I called 2 weeks ago.

So I don't think anything changed these few days other than they introducing the new Click Energy 6 tariff. I am quite confused why you said your prices increased that much. Either you have been misinformed or I have. I phoned them a few minutes after you called???

You have been misinformed. Go to the link above on the BG website to calculate your new price (effective from the 30th September).

It says it's available to new & existing customers so give them a call to check if you can just apply online. With my supplier I know I've just called them in the past & they transfer me to newer version.

http://www.britishgas.co.uk/products-and-services/energy/dual/click-energy.html

Two tier charging has been around for yonks. Use loads & you pay less for last portion of supply, still too much though ;-)

Thanks. Just switched to click 6 (electric is 20% cheaper than new click 5 prices, gas is about 10% cheaper).

im still trying to find some info on this from bg actual site, yes i can see click 6 tariff, but want to see click 5, as said switch sites not yet showing these new tariffs

I find this a really dishonest practise. My supplier does the same, brings out a new cheaper version of the tariff by increasing the number at the end of the tariff title, but it doesn't transfer you automatically. I have to keep an eye on my parents & in-laws bills & I think that there's a lot who are paying more than they need to. I suppose it's like the banks who bring out better rates but you have to choose to transfer to them. You'd think the suppliers would be obliged to write to you & say this is the new cheaper version of your tariff, do you wish to transfer etc. especially as gordon brown keeps banging on about helping to reduce energy costs etc.

Pleased you got sorted out though :)

Yeah, I agree. A bit like taking out a top paying ISA only to find when you check a few months later its now one of the lowest rates :x

Literally makes me feel sick how we get hammered by all these price increases on everything and there's not a single thing we can do about it, other than freeze to death, starve and stop travelling! :x

It is so hard to know which way to go!
It's come to something when you have to take a gamble on your energy tarriffs !
I have capped my Gas prices with BG until 2011 & I really haven't a clue if I've done the right thing or not!

It looks exactly the same but you get an extra 10% off, you seem quite knowledgable on these things is it worth moving? Seems daft not to if its exactly the same as we've got at the moment but with an extra 10% off?

Anyone who are still with this greedy lot need to wisen up. They have always been the company to trigger of price hikes. They do it and then others follow suit.

I would never ever go back to BG even if they were the cheapest by a mile, if everyone had principles, greedy so and so like this lot would know better.

Just got off the phone and the girl worked it out for my annual usage that i'll be £42 a year better off if i switch to the Energy Online Extra Saver 9 Tariff. So i've done it, just logged into my E.ON account and its done already.

I know its not much of a saving but 40 quids better than a kick you know where ;-)

you are wrong they put them up in august they were the first to do so

i know this as i was monitoring them all for a few weeks and scottish power were the cheapest until they put theirs up (1 of the last)

it was also being monitored on moneysavingexpert site, there was a red light to say wait till ALL suppliers fell in line

then a green light to say all suppliers had

Both right & wrong as BG didnt put up their most popular tariff until today hence thousands have switched to them in the last couple of months (including me) only to find they have put prices up to similar levels as others effective today.

The trouble is they dont write to tell you about price rises so most people will be unaware they are paying 40-50% more than they were quoted when switching and probably wont notice until they get a massive bill half way through the winter! :x

Its a national disgrace that utility companies are not forced to notify you about price changes.

Apparently they write within 65 days, which apparently is in the t&c's, and apparently is legal!
