Broadband help

can anyone recommend a good broadband deal for me that doesn't tie me in for 12 months!
I have just moved into a new house, no phone line at the moment (there is an inactive BT line at the property)

I only intend to stay at the house for 6 months, so I need something that i can move with me ( I think BT don't do that!)
Sky is not an option as I am not allowed a sky dish
Virgin media might be an option, but they need to send an engineer out first

any other suggestions that I can go with that won't require me to have an active BT line first?

thanks

Mobile broadband? I'm guessing virgin will be a minimum 12 month tie in. You may find ADSL providers that offer 1,3,6 month contracts but it's the voice side of the line you'll struggle with. Line activation will come with a 12 or 18 month contract.

Talk talk is 18 months but you can move it with you.

will they need a bt line? and will they charge me for the line activation?

is mobile broadband reliable and fast enough

I can live without downloading for a while, just the few MP3s every week

When we moved recently I contacted BT and took their free installation offer - one of the questions i asked was what happened if I moved again (which we are planning) and they said I can take the contract with me.

Depends on your area, check coverage. I use mobile broadband OK when out and about with the RMR.

All well and good but if you move you'll be subject to another install charge.

Plusnet, Zen or BE internet are your best choices, then you can leave without getitng tied into a huge contract and left with the rest to pay after you leave!

IDNet, 30 day rolling contract. www.idnet.net They can do your phone service too.
