broadband help

I am in the last month of my broadband contract with P!shnet sorry plusnet (do not use this shambles of a provider) and would like some help on finding a new provider.

I mainly use my broadband for playing Fifa on PS3 and all i get is lag or connection constantly dropping due to my [email protected] Plusnet providers.

i am just looking for feedback on what broadband u all use and recommended providers (that work playing fifa on PS3)

i'm also in an area that doesn't appear to like all the good deals that come round so that's something else that's a pain in the buum.

cheers

Can you get 02? if so go for them we are into our 3rd year with them now and highly recommend them to anyone.

BE broadband if you can get it had 0 problems with it so far had it for about 6 months since switching from BT where i had constant hub restarts and just god awful slow connection. Not to mention the massive speed capping during "peak hours".

Stay away from BT absolute shambles.

if you keep getting lag while playing on fifa over PS3 you could try port forwarding? however if you say your connection drops aswell then i guess it won't help

You should be able to get up to 6 meg download speed on this number. That's based on information from BT about your line.
You're outside the area that O2 Broadband covers, but all is not lost. We can offer you our Access package .

£22.50, hoping to nail it for slightly cheaper but i can't see that happening as i appear to be in the land that time forgot and broadband deals are sky high

this is the only sky deal i can get, is this the same as u sky users?

£17 monthly Broadband availability is subject to your location. Speeds vary with location and line quality. Sky Talk or BT line rental payable.

I would advise against Connect, i was on that and it was terrible.

Have a look on http://www.samknows.com/old/broadband/search.php

Look for providers that are on LLU tech.

O2 and Be are the same company (O2 bought BeThere) and would recomend if you can get the LLU deal O2 access is not very good as im stuck with it for the moment
sky is fast but you have no choice but to use their router so i canceled after 3 hours as this was not eplained when i signed up and they do not give you an N Draft router which is a must these days
was with UKFSN for 3 years which was costly but as they say you get what u pay for and it was fab, but i seem unable to sign back up after leaving them for sky 24Mb as i was only geting 8Mb from UKFSN however this was a big mistake, but i will tough it out with O2 in the hope they upgrade my exchange, and if they dont BT will in october this year, check out samknowsbroadband, con for what is avalable to you

If the problem is down to your physical line then changing provider won't fix anything.

what do you do if it is the line? my partner having really bad problems, he plays ps3 online and has bad lag we have changed from aol to bt and still problems has also opened his ports. we cant get sky either.

aaisp.net.uk - hard to better.

Assuming your telephone cabling in the house is sorted!

i don't think it's the line although i wouldn'y rule anything out but i never had issues with my last provider, the only reason i changed was because i thought i was paying to much but like someone posted 'you get what you pay for'

ask if they offer a 20:1 connection ratio if gaming and upload is important this will help improve the issue, it will cost you though

i've left them, went with Aquiss.

£24.99 per month (not the cheapest) but 1 thing i've learned is you get what you pay for, plus it's only a monthly contract so if it's not any better i can jack it anytime i like.:)

All i can say is stay well away from Plusnet.:x
