Are Virgin the only ones who offer this via cable?
I googled and couldn´t find any other companies.

Any tips and help are appreciated :)

You could always go with a mobile BB provider.

If you have a 3 phone, you can get connected for a fiver a month, with no BT line rental to pay.

If I weren't a big downloader I'd have ditched the landline by now -- and just made all phone calls over the net (24Kbps = 333,000 minutes per gigabyte ~= free, plus VoipCheap's low rates).

We are with virgin at the moment.
We used to have XL broadband and L TV for 27 pounds.
Then they changed it to 37 pounds without even telling us
(no one ever said the offer (27 pounds) was limited)
So we downgraded to L broadband as we don´t wanna
pay more than 27 pounds total a month.

We need the XL speed as we download quite a bit.
L is just a drag...annoyingly slow.

So there´s no other company other than virgin that does it without
a BT line? Looked at o2 but they don´t offer BB in our area :(

Your probably better off sticking with Virgin, they are one of the few left that don't have download limits except capping on heavy downloaders. And you would need a BT line with other providers anyway except for wi-fi.

Virgin has eaten all the smaller cable providers and is pretty much nationwide now.

Apart from Virgin, your only other options are satellite (expensive and slow) and mobile (getting better all the time but still rather expensive).

Although having said that I'm sure I read that Vodafone do an all you can eat for £30 -- similar to a typical unlimited landline BB provider plus BT's charge.

Three has the most widespread HSPDA coverage right now.

try calling up threatening to leave virgin and see if they offer a reduction normally do think ares has been half price or less for the last 3 or 4 years lol

Yeah we thought about calling them to get a better deal
(our contract has been 12 month in may so we could ask for an offer to make us stay)
But do they still go for this?
I mean pretty much everyone who´s with them
calls up and asks for a better deal by the way it looks lol
