Broke my phone on friday and now need advice on its replacement

I have had my current phone for the last 4 years on pay as you go. Last week I finally did something constructive and sorted myself out a decent sim only deal.
The only problem is that when I opened up my phone to change the sim I broke it!

So now I need a new phone. I don't have a clue what to get.

I'd like a nice looking phone (especially since I keep my phones for a long time, I have only had 3 phones over the last 11 years)
It will need to have a good battery life as I mostly chat rather than text.
I'd like it to have a good camera, music player etc.

Any suggestions please?

What phones did you have before? That might help :)
Is there anything you don't want, dislike?
I mean, touch screens, prefer Nokias, dislike anything

What's your budget?

I had a Motorola Rokr, which 4 years ago was quite a funky phone.

I'd like a good battery life, for the phone to look nice (I am a girl lol) I'd like a music player, good camera, any extras are a bonus.

No dislikes really, not really had much experience having only had 3 phones. I do want it to be fairly robust though, I only carry it round in my bag but I don't want a flimsy phone.

My husband has a Nokia n95 so would rather not have the same as him.

I don't really have a budget, rather not spend more than £180 ish though

I may be wrong, and I;m sure someone will correct me if I am but I think you might be best having a look at a pay as you go phone with the server you're with and just ditching the PAYG sim when you get it. Might be cheaper than looking for a sim free phone.

The sim I have is a vodafone one so as long as I can put that in the phone I'll go with whatever works out cheapest

LG viewty i got one a couple weeks back and i love it, 5mp camera is amazing for a phone camera music player is good, easy to use (headphones it comes with are crap but an adapter is only 5 quid in CPW)

Since you're locked to Voda, why not go into the Voda shop, see what they have?
Ask can you see some of them in action.
Thing is, we can advise all day long lol it's a very personal choice :)

I quite like the look of the viewty :)

Which viewty do you have? Ive just been looking at them and there are different models. Also some of the reviews say that the battery life is rubbish and that the slider feels flimsy - have you found this with yours?

Ive already left you some rep, thanks for your help :)

Check out the new nokia 6700, its the upgraded version of the nokia 6300. This has a 5mp camera etc

If that a little pricey ill still recommend the nokia 6300, its a solid phone and the call time is fairly decent. The best part its only under £80 new. Has a 2mp camera, bluetooth, music, radio etc.

ive got the KU990i which is the light version, its pretty much all yu can get now, it doesnt have the awsome lens tht the origional had but the camera is good, the 990i should come with nothing but mine came with the pc Cable and headphones, dont know why lol

the battery life is OK its not the best ive had and its not the worst, but its not a problem for me as i just plug it into the charger thing when im not using it

Slider??? viewty is 100% touchscreen  unless im completely missing something on my phone :p

had the original viewty, and it could be a little unresponsive at times but so can a lot of touch screens.
I have a 6300 and is a cracking little phone, with very good battery life. Camera might lack, has no flash.

I have a 5800 and have found it more responsive than the (original) viewty but still has it's moments but that's touchscreens, iphone aside, never had the experience.
Sounds like you wanna touchscreen so that has narrowed it down lol

lol, yes I do seem to be going that way.
Purely for looks though, I'm such a girl!

I do like the look of the 5800 but its a lot more than the lg

best thing you can do is narrow down the list based on recomendations/ reviews etc then go to a shop in try them out for yourself

Well, play.com will do the 5800 locked to Voda for £160 which is within your budget, granted more than the Viewty mind :)
Sure you'd be able to find it cheaper......
Think as i said before and Micoo has said, get yourself to the shops, and have a play :)
#32
I think I'll try andget to a shop as you both suggest.
Just been looking at 5800 at play, must admit I think I'm swaying more towards that one now.
Think its pretty much between the viewty lite and the 5800
#33
Thing with 5800 it's Symbian based, so you can download applications, games and themes, make it more personal
I know you don't want an N95 but do you like how it works, not necessarily how it physically looks and feels more how it operates?
