Hi, before i go out and buy a replacement one my sons ds lite has broken and i dont think its repairable as on one side it has completely snapped off (the top from the bottom) and the other side its just about hanging on and you can see the gold foily piece coming out, If i turn it on it just flashed green then goes straight back off again.

Is it completely broken Any help appreciated thanks

It is repairable, you could try phoning nintendo if its under a year, they may fix it. The other option is to repair it yourself, whole shells are available on dx for the ds cheaply, youll need a new gold foily piece thingy that goes in the middle too. You'll also need a triwing screwdriver to open the ds

not sure the shop will help as the warranty will only cover manufacturing faults. try the shop if no joy then phone nintendo and tell them how upset your son is etc etc they may offer to repair it cheep

Also i hate to point out that DS Lites are a pain in the backside for experienced console repairers, to anyone who struggles with small parts and long amounts of time doing VERY fiddly movements under a magnifying lens I would say not to even attempt it, it's a nightmare, I am pretty good with most things, have chipped a few Wii's and had my PSP apart on several occasions, but never again will I EVER open another DS Lite, lol.

Hiya My daughter dropped her DS on a wooden floor and the case broke in two across the hinged part. She was distraught. So we took it to Game in Milton Keynes to ask if they could repair it. We explained to the manager that she had dropped it. He said because we had told the truth and said if we took out insurance cover (£20) she could have a brand new one !!!!! We were so blessed !!! She had a white one and he let her have what she really wanted a pink one instead . Hope this works for you too,

Mike is right.
I have managed to repair a few DS lites, but then again, there are a few I haven't managed to repair.
It is possible but I wouldn't recomend it yourself unless you have the patience of a saint.
Fleabay is a good place to offload this. :-D
