Broken PS3 pad or just bad charging cable?

Not sure which, reason being is that I have been having usb issues recently on a few devices(all Sony too lol) my PSP keeps losing usb connection if moved a inch or so, so does my Sony camera, and now my PS3 pad(that was charged last time I used it about 2 months ago!)

I dont have another usb cable to check but I have tried 4 cables back when I had usb issues with camera and psp and all had the same problems.

It seems to get a connection but not charge pad and keeps dropping connection, I tried leaving it a few minutes in case it started charging but nope.

if u r using the same cable for all, that would suggest a faulty cable...

I am but for the other devices I have tried different cables with the same effects.

When connected to a PC I get the usb connection sound and the lights flash on the pad for a second then go off.

When plugged into the PC and you press the PS button, what happens?
