there is a member on here called something like ' colinsunderland ' not sure if that's right, he refered us all to an unlocking site for the k800i on vodaphone earlier in the year. Hopefully he'll see this thread.

Cable unlock only (unless you get the code from the network). Most phone shops for between 5 and 10 quid.

Give Vodafone a call and they should give you the unlock code

EDIT: Will cost £20 if the handset is under 12 months old, which i assume it is.

As long as it's not Cid53 you can unlock it yourself, have a read of this excellent guide by shanecr

It's also got links to the software you'll need

I have the same phone locked to Vodafone which I have not used since paying £60 for it about 10 months ago!

To get this phone unlocked the cheapest I have been quoted is £25 ....Nokia can be unlocked for £5 but everywhere tells me this is more difficult so I haven't botehred. I also downloaded and installed numerous programs, I also paid numerous sites from £5 - £15 to be sent useless links and applications, none of which worked!

I have practically given up but would like to know if you find something that works

Just to clarify my point..

Obtaining an NUC code

Vodafone will supply a Network Unlock Code (NUC) for you if you've purchased a phone from us on either Contract or Pay As You Talk (PAYT) (* not applicable for the BlackBerry Storm - see post three on this thread). An NUC allows you to use non-Vodafone SIM cards inside your Vodafone handset.

If you got the phone with a contract the NUC will be free of charge, regardless of its age, as all new contract phones are now dispatched unlocked.
If the phone is a PAYT handset over 12 months old the code will also be free of charge.
If it's a PAYT handset that's less than 12 months old a charge of £19.99 including VAT would apply. The £19.99 will need to be credited to your phone before you apply for the code. Once the NUC has been issued the charge will be debited.

To obtain an NUC code you would need to contact our customer services team by completing our online contact form, available on www.vodafone.co.uk at the Vodafone Contact Us Forum.

You will need to have the following information available for us to process your code

* You will need to have an active Vodafone number. If you don't have one you can order a free Pay As You Talk sim card online and can get your NUC as soon as this is registered.
* Make/model of mobile
* IMEI number (The IMEI can be found by entering *#06# into your phone or it is also given in the battery compartment of the device).

If the IMEI number is kept on our system we can give you the NUC straight away. If we don't hold the details there is a timescale of 72 hours to retrieve the code from the mobile phone manufacturer. The only exception for this is for Samsung, who have a timescale of up 16 days.
